There are no absolutes in politics. It ebbs and flows. One event can radically alter the landscape, as 9-11 did for Rudy. And I think history will treat GWB much kinder than your post gives him credit for.

In all seriousness, the disdain & disgust that reeked out of your remark disturbs me. I've heard similar remarks from people like Cindy Sheehan & her friends, not to mention Bill Maher, Al Franken & Rosie O-Donald. I've also heard fellow freepers, yourself included, make such remarks.
Gosh, if the republican party is going to start insulting me because of my religion & where I come from - what's the point of me being there? I can go to the next Code Pink meeting and get that kind of treatment.
I remember when I first found Free Republic - it was like a breath of fresh air to be able to share my views with like-minded people. The air's not so fresh around here lately.
