Nah, he's not protectionist. The "protection" label applied to Hunter is a poorly thought out conclusion from his (very reasonable) concerns about China. Concern about unfair trade being used to bolster this potentially hostile's military arsenal does not equate to protectionism. The correct response to the critics is to ask them what they plan to do about China.

He's a protectionist and that can't be denied. The unions love that.

"Protectionist" is a derogatory label from globalists, but to me, it's a compliment.
Globalists talk about "free trade" as if it occurs.
Republicans talk about free trade as though the constitution is eqivalent to a customer agreement for Costco.
