Respected fiscal watchdog state Sen. Tom McClintock, writing in The Sacramento Bee, criticized a state government spending rate that has grown significantly faster than it did under Davis, increasing 30 percent the last three years alongside 23 percent revenue growth.
McClintock said the governors spending spree has now produced the biggest operating deficit in Californias history -- $8 billion, compared with Daviss worst year of $6.6 billion. McClintock also cited $45 billion in pension obligations and $40 billion to $70 billion in health care obligations owed to state employees.
Warning that pressure for tax increases will grow as California approaches its fiscal day of reckoning, McClintock said state law should require government to ask voters permission before hiking taxes. He wrote that 72 percent of Californians support the idea, which, he wrote, is perhaps Californias last chance to avert the ruinous tax increases that reckless spending, gaping deficits, and broken campaign promises have already set in motion.
Angelides would have been SOOOO MUCH BETTER..... (/sarc)
Thanks for admitting you supported Angelides.
You are making blatantly FALSE statements about Arnold.
He VETOED the socialized medicine bill passed by the Dem Legislature and will VETO it again.
He never said, in fact he OPPOSES "free health care" -- your claim that he is in favor of it is a BIG LIE.
Obviously Arnold's REAL stance on the issues is CONSERVATIVE, so you have to lie about him.
So when is McClintock going to put the blame where it belongs, on the Democrat Legislature, instead of blaming Arnold for everything?!
Arnold DID NOT raise taxes and he WILL NOT raise taxes, so what is McClintock talking about?!
LOL! Says it all!
Excuse me sweetie pie. But a 2% doctor tax, a 4% payroll tax, and a a 4% hospital tax so that illegal aliens and everyone else can get free health care is a far cry from anything ever described as conservative in the history of the world.
Adopting the views of Al Gore on the collectivist myths of so-called "climate change" is not what any sane person in America would call conservative.
There is nothing conservative about this jerk and the commies he has surrounded himself with. He's a flaming liberal, period.
You don't just sound like a broken record. You sound like a broken record of a Hillary Clinton speech.. Your posts are no longer just tedious predictable and boring. You have become as annoying and distracting as fingernails on a blackboard. To borrow from a Gary Larsen cartoon, good people will go to heaven and play harps, bad people will go to hell and play accordions, and the truly evil people will go to hell and be forced to read idiotic comments by Fair Opinion for all eternity.
Would you please just go away?
I'm not so sure. After watching the politicos lie to sell us into bondage for the past few years, there is no telling what the voters might approve. It's all for the common good, ya know?
"I voted for the Libertarian."
IOW, as I said you supported Angelides.
Ok.
If that makes you feel worse.
Sure.
Arnold still won -- but that doesn't excuse your actions of supporting Angelides.
Wow. You sound like a Communist. Vote the party line, or else. I've got nothing else to say to the likes of you.
Under the circumstances, I find your remarks anent FO to be far too restrained. Actually, she cannot possibly be as blindingly stupid as her continual apologia for the socialist/communist Austrian would indicate. Nobody, except for the lowest echelon of the drooling Rat culture, is that dedicated to a politician, especially a doubletalking two-faced turkey like Arnold. Since she clearly knows what a disaster Arnold has been, is, and will continue to be -- there must be a different explanation.
She either works directly for the Governor's office or is a political consultant being paid as a PR flack for Arnold.
Sure, in your dictionary, someone who wants to defeat the Dems is a communist, and someone who is helping Angelides and Hillary win is a 'true conservative'.
You must stop reading the "DU Dictionary for Conservatives".
Arnnie must be a "California" or Lefty Conservative...he signed the nation's first statewide cap on greenhouse gas emissions last year and has supported a California law passed in 2002 regulating tailpipe standards for automobiles. Arnold's as consevative as Rudy...oh boy, electing this type of candidate is going to give all Conservativism a bad name.
