The chairman of Boston University's religion department offers this proposal: Public high schools should require one course in the Bible for all their students and another in world religions
He cites surveys showing that most Americans can't even name one of the four biblical gospels and that many high school students think that Sodom and Gomorrah were a married couple.

But the real question is - do they know the words to "Louie, Louie?"
Thread title does not match article title
Correct title:"A call for required study of the Bible"
When the article title does not reflect the content you can add a comment in parentheses like this
A call for required study of the Bible (Students think that Sodom and Gomorrah were a married couple)
The mods on many news discussion sites like the title to match the original title to help check for duplicates.
LOL!! Beatcha by only 24 seconds!! ;o)
Well, they were, just not to each other. God introduced them both to a rather difficult companion.
Her name was Fire and Brimstone.
>>Gosh. Where did your religious education come from? Mine came from church and family.
I guess it's just easier now to throw off the responsibility for certain elements of education, makes it easier to blame someone else for the ills that follow, I guess.<<
It wouldn't stun me if we look back one day and decide the beginning of the end was when we put the public school teachers union in charge of religious education.
Also known as bill and hillary clinton.
They are = They're
Their
there
You can look up the difference. Do let me know when you walk on water ... . It's sad, not amusing, when people like to focus on ANYTHING but the point of the reply. It's down right pathetic. I'm not in the mood for childish grade school games.
Feeling better?
Feeling a tad touchy?
Are you a homosexual? Don't like criticism?
Too bad if the answer is yes.
Public schools don't care about grammar, math, science etc. - they DO care about indoctrinating kids to believe that being a sodomite or any other emotionally, troubled person acting out their issues through sex is "normal".
So why kids know nothing about Sodom and Gomorrah doesn't surprise me at all.
I can spell, so you ask if I'm a homosexual? We're deep into Friday afternoon sillies, here, boys and girls. :)
Strange bedfellows award of the day:
Jeremy Gunn of the American Civil Liberties Union, holder of a doctorate in religion from Harvard, "I strongly believe that there is a serious lack of understanding about religion in America, indeed everywhere in the world. So it would be valuable for there to be more education about religion, as long as it is done in a constitutionally acceptable way."
Who'd have thought there are things that can be agreed with, even from the ACLU?
I'm sorry I thought the present title would have been much more eye-catching & funnier.
i thought manual labor was a mexican.
While public schools are partly to blame, so is the lack of intellectual curiosity on the part of many of the students. If you want to learn in public school, you can (speaking as a graduate of public education in Ohio).
Up in NYC they have the nations first publically funded school just for homosexuals! I don't want to think about what goes on there ... the only consolation I can see is at;east some of them are there and a few less to molest straight kids in other public schools. I see it as outrageous that the public, through tax dollars should PAY for this debauchery.
"Today we give Sodomites SPECAIAL rights and EXALT them - totally contrary to what God clearly says about sin."
From a secular view sodomy doesn't make sense either. Our school officials that support this behavior should be charged with child abuse.

It is catchier and funnier. That's why I went into why boards like this want the original title - otherwise you can get a dozen duplicate threads that are hard to detect. And I'm glad you posted this - I was just trying to help you for the future.
There are words to "Louie Louie"? ;-P
I'm sorry that you don't have the power to enforce your "suggestions". Since you don't like my posts, skip over them. I've been here for quite awhile and will continue to be.
They weren't married? You mean they were living in sin?
