Fred has, among other things, a gravitas that no other candidate has. Fred is also one intelligent fellow. I can vote for Fred.

Though I am pretty much behind Rudy for the nomination, I am still open minded. If all that is said about him is true, He would fill that "super conservative" exception I have noted for my support for Rudy.

Does anyone know his what his negatives (%) are with the public? What is some of the dirt that the rats could throw at him? I know very little about him outside of L&O.

Also, if he even hints of throwing his hat in or is mentioned as a possible VP candidate, look for him to start getting scripts on L&O that make him look like a SOB. I know it sounds silly, but just playing one on TV is enough to make a lot of voters distrustful of a candidate.

If he doesn't run, this would have to be the most "chatter" I've ever seen for someone who is staying out of the race. I just have a feeling he's going to jump in, and he would win easily.

I would LOVE to see him run--as I would gladly volunteer to help work his campaign. He got somewhat frustrated with politics in general--which is why he did not run for reelection. It makes me wonder if he has the passion required for a Presidential campaign. Oh well,,,,we can at least hope he sees the opening for a conservative like himself.

"What's his plan?" "Excuse me?" "What's his plan? The Russians don't take a dump, son, without a plan!"

Pardon me, its my favorite line in Hunt For Red October by him.

However, I would have to ask...with recruiting him to run...whats the plan?

Oh, fer crying out loud - I've been trumpeting for Senator Fred for ten years. Man, I'd love to see him throw his hat into the ring. Someone add me to the PING list, or mailing list, or whatever passes for the grassroots on him.

Fred is a real conservative.

Fred is the stop gap guy to prevent a non one worlder from gaining any traction with the little people.

Seems like a good guy, solid conservative. Can't say more yet, but it'd be nice to see him at least add to the roster of candidates. Win or lose (for HIM), such would likely improve the prospects of the eventual nominee. Class and balls.

Why is he better than his buddy McCain, particularly in the area of free speech?

Back in 1995, Thompson joined forces with John McCain and Russ Feingold in their first attempt to skirt our First Amendment rights with "campaign finance reform."

At the time, the bill was known as McCain-Feingold-Thompson. From 1995:

The ties between McCain and Thompson cannot be overstated. Thompson not only endorsed McCain for president in 2000, he became national co-chairman for McCain's campaign--due to McCain's "leadership" on campaign finance reform.

No, thanks.

If he were to get in the race, I would feel very confident and not have to worry about all those 'compromise' candidates that are leading the field.

Selecting from a list based on the 'lesser of evils' is not something I want to do, but if it's between that and Hillary, I'm there.
