Fred Thompson should run for President

Here's why...

Fred Thompson is a true American statesman and has the experience that matters.

Fred is a real conservative. From tax cuts, to cleaning up government, to his vital role in the confirmation of Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, Fred Thompson has a record of fighting for conservative values.

Fred has the knowledge and expertise on the issues that matter most in today's world.

Fred Thompson, like Ronald Reagan, has the ability to bring conservative principles to the Oval Office, communicate to Americans, and bring our Nation together

I was disappointed in Fred's vote on the Clinton Impeachment, however if Clinton was forced out Al Gore would would have been in a definite advantage in the coming election.

What did Dinkins have to do with the rest of what I said about Giuliani's extremely effective anti-crime policies?

Once I read the first few lies, I stopped reading. I realized you wouldn't have anything honest to say, because you are not aware of the facts, and have your head so far up rudy's abortion and gay loving ass to see daylight. You are a toady, you are no free thinker. Go buy a clue now.

Oh yeah, Rudy instituted some good crime fighting policies, yeah, but he doesn't deserve all the credit. I am not saying that because I think Dinkins is a great guy - quite the opposite.

The statistics you point to show that the rates for various crimes came down much more dramatically during Giuliani's term in office. The murder rate when he took office in 1993 was 2,420. When he left office it was 960. That represents an extreme difference. To deny him credit for the dramatic reduction in crime is ridiculous. I know what this city was like before Giuliani became Mayor and what it was like after he left.

He voted yes on the first article of impeachment which was defeated on a 50-50 vote. He voted no on the 2nd article which was defeated 56-40.

I didn't deny him credit, but you can't deny that the reductions did not start due to anything rudy did. I did say he instituted some good policies, but he didn't get the ball rolling, and in fact, some crime types reduced at a slower rate under giuliani.

I know, you love him and all, and yeah, he deserves some credit, but nowhere near all as some people here claim.

What lies are those? You seem assume I love Giuliani's abortion and gay rights views. I do not agree with him on those issues. I am not a Rudy for President supporter. I appreciate what he did as my Mayor to improve the quality of life in this city. I'm not only a free thinker, I'm also a believer in truth. You, buy a clue!

"Hey baybee - you don't have to ask me twice to vote for him. He could kill Hitlery on voice quality alone!

Fred Thompson is another guy we need that won't change with the wind. He doesn't appear to like women with the wind and noise of Mrs. Bill Clinton around him. He left the Senate to do other things he likes to do. Recruit him for the job. It's not an aspiring power grab to him. Just a job to do good with.

I am not a Rudy supporter at all. Quite the opposite, actually.

However, I DO give him credit for running an efficient city and helping reduce crime. As you said, that is a fact, and it is ridiculous to dispute that.

On the other hand, crime almost always declines when the economy gets better (in NY, in most cities, and in the country as a whole) as the economy improves, unemployment decreases and jobs availability rises. That too is a fact. During Rudy's time in office, this country experienced one of the biggest economic booms in world history (if not the very biggest as the stock market soared to heights unimaginable a few year earlier). That, too contributed to the reduction in crime--and the economic resources to fight crime (not only in NY, but again, in the entire country as a whole).

So although I salute Rudy's efforts in reducing crime--I do not 'swoon and faint' (like many of his apologists do) at the mere mention of crime reduction during his time in office. Let's keep things in perspective here.

Rudy and Dinkins had one very important thing in common. I suggest you spend some time pondering this, Free ThinkerNY.

The same Ultra Liberals voted for both of them... There's a message there, see if you can find it.

I know plenty of Liberals. I'm surrounded by them here in NYC. Not one voted for Giuliani. Liberals hated him and called him a Right-wing Nazi. They regarded him as a racist, police-state fascist. If the same "ultra-liberals" voted for Dinkins and Giuliani how did Giuliani beat Dinkins to become Mayor of NYC? If your message is that Giuliani is the same as Dinkins you are wrong. For example, Dinkins allowed rioters to beat and kill Jews in the Crown Heights riots. There were no such riots when Giuliani was Mayor since they knew he wouldn't tolerate it. There are many of other examples showing the differences between Giuliani and Dinkins. To say they are the same is nonsense.
