Valerie Plame's Book on Libby Case May Be Blocked by CIA March 07, 2007
SOURCE:Editor & Publisher
When Lewis "Scooter" Libby was convicted in the CIA leak case, Valerie Plame Wilson "wept when she heard the news," her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson said. She called him at a restaurant and said, "four out of five guilty!"
Wilson gave his first TV interview on MSNBC's Countdown. He said that he and his wife will "both sleep more easily tonight."
Plame, the former CIA agent who outing was at the center of the case, is now having trouble getting her book on the case past the CIA clearance, Wilson revealed. He said the agency didn't have a problem with the content but would not acknowledge she had even worked at the agency before 2002 (when she was often deep-cover). "We may have to litigate," he said. "I hope she can write the book."
The Wilsons are pressing a suit and hope through discovery to get at the grand jury testimony of Karl Rove, Libby, Richard Armitage and others.
Wilson also said, "Now that the trial is over, the president and vice president should stop hiding" and share what they told prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald.
He pointed out that while the president had expressed sadness for Libby and his family he had "never" expressed sympathy for Plame, who had served her country for more than 20 years, sometimes at great risk.
Later, on the Larry King show on CNN, Wilson said that the president "ought to get rid of Karl Rove" and "keep his word to the American people" to fire anyone involved in the leak.
He also said that he'd like to get involved with the film that may be made about the Wilsons: "I think it's a great story."
Why don't the Wilson's star in their own reality show: The Wilson's. The NY Slimes editorial board can write the script.
Libby Trial Prompts Instant Book
March 07, 2007

Union Square Press will publish an "instant book" about the trial of I. Lewis Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney who was charged with lying and obstructing justice. Within hours of Libby's guilty verdict on Tuesday, the company announced that The United States v. I. Lewis Libby, by Murray Waas, will be published in April.
"Like the published reports from the 9/11 Commission and the Iraq Study Group, the CIA leak case warrants a definitive book based upon the Libby trial record," said Philip Turner, editorial director of Union Square Press. "Readers who believe that the true story behind the outing of a CIA operative has not been adequately explored by other media will find many revelations in the book."
Drawn from the transcript of the trial, the book will include testimony from key witnesses, as well as original reporting and an introductory essay by Waas. An investigative journalist, Waas has covered the Plame investigation and the Bush administration's use of pre-war intelligence for the National Journal.
The paperback original, which will cost $12.95, will be the first book published by the Sterling Publishing imprint, which was founded earlier this year. The company previously announced that veteran news producer Alan Weisman will write Prince of DarknessRichard Perle: The Kingdom, The Power and the End of Empire in America, set to be published in November.
I have titles for the movie,
"Literary Flair"
or
"Mint Tea Monkeyshines"
or
"Blowhards on the Potamac"
Where's that "caption" thread with Valerie hungover in her jammies?
Let her publish it, then send a prosecutor after her for leaking classified information. Let her get a taste of that game.
LOL!! The only one who is SCARED TO DEATH of having to make statements under oath is Joe 'Blowhard' Wilson. He squealed like a stuck pig and was terrified when he thought Libby's lawyers might make him testify.
Exactly and why would the movie transcripts be any different?
Why isn't Joe Wilson in jail?
If "exposing" Valerie put other agents at risk, won't her book about her experience PUT OTHER AGENTS AT RISK?
This is such a BS case.
Because the shadow government protects their own.
I wonder how well she slept after reading the editorial in the Washington Post???
Murray Waas is a blast from the past. Wasn't he an associate of Joe Conason?

[edit] Journalism career
Previously Waas wrote for a number of publications, including the The Nation, the Village Voice, the Boston Globe. He reported on the Whitewater and Clinton impeachment for Salon.com, working frequently with Joe Conason and Jonathan Broder. His reporting on the George W. Bush administration, especially the Valerie Plame scandal, has been called "groundbreaking", and Jay Rosen of PressThink has called Waas the "new Bob Woodward".[1] He has also written up on the Scooter Libby case.
Waas indicates his next major piece will be on the cervical cancer vaccine and related health-care issues, and after that he will document the attempts to discredit Ambassador Joe Wilson.
Jeepers Mister Wilson, you lied.
