What Rush conveniently leaves out is the SGLI. $250,000 back when I was in. It's not the governments' fault if someone does not sign up for it.

SGLI is a voluntary program. The military member pays the life insurance premiums...but it is a low rate. If the 9/11 heads of family did not carry sufficient life insurance to take care of their families' needs, who's fault is that? Should it be the govt's responsibility? SGLI is not govt compensation. It is life insurance.
Being in the military for 27+ years now, this is a real bitter subject for me. I don't expect the govt to make my family rich if I die due to war-related circumstances, and I certainly don't expect the govt to make non-combatants rich either. We are all responsible for our own dependents. You make preparations, or you accept the consequences. PERIOD.
What is really nauseating is the claim that; "It is not enough. They would have made more than that over their expected lifetime". Perhaps when the nation is fighting for survival, we should call a stockbroker.

What Rush conveniently leaves out is the SGLI. Maybe because he does not know what an "SGLI" is.
BTW, AFAIK, WTF is an SGLI?
Is it a program under the auspices of the SEC, ICC, DEA, HUD, NFA, SSA, ATF,or the DoD?
