The f-word and porn stars and CPAC, oh my
Michelle Malkin.com ^ | 3/7/06 | Michelle Malkin

Well, this is an interesting development, to say the least. As I noted on Saturday, one of the honorees at CPAC was Matt Sanchez--a corporal in the Marine Corps Reserve and junior at Columbia University who spoke out about anti-war thugs on campus. He received the Jeane Kirkpatrick Academic Freedom Award and a standing ovation from the CPAC crowd at the Ronald Reagan Banquet. He has also posed with Ann Coulter and me, been published in the NYPost, and appeared on Fox News Channel's O'Reilly Factor and Hannity and Colmes. There are now tawdry rumors about Sanchez's past lighting up the left-wing blogs. Cpl. Sanchez says he will respond on his blog.

It's only a matter of time before the MSM goes nuts with the story. Report on the everyday progress in Iraq? Forget it. Sex, homosexuals, and the GOP? Get ready for wall-to-wall coverage a la Foley, Gannon, and Haggard.

Should CPAC organizers be embarrassed if the rumors about his alleged porn star past are true? Well, yes. Next time, they should do more extensive background research before handing out an honor with Jeane Kirkpatrick's name on it.

Does it take away from Sanchez's actions and words in defense of the military at Columbia? Absolutely not.

I guess we'll see who the real bigots--on both sides of the aisle--are now. I have a feeling Ann Coulter isn't the only one who'll be tossing around the f-word as the story develops.

And not just in the "schoolyard," "sophomoric" kind of way.

"All i am trying to say is that people make mistakes"

Did you check out the links in post #65? Some, (not I)could claim that making one gay porn movie was a mistake. This guy has over 40. I'd call that a career.

The guy's a total prop for the gays in the military movement. First build up military credibility with the right-wing media and blogosphere, then come out of the porn studio just in time for election season.

This is not an accident. This is a set-up. It's as clear as day.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a David Brock or two in the blogosphere, too.

And look who just gave a speech on this very topic just yesterday...

Clinton also said she opposes the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy regarding gays that was instituted during her husband's presidency.

What timing...

Yep. Here's more:

Peter LaBarbera, a conservative activist known for his staunch opposition to the homosexual agenda, says even he was surprised by what the New York senator and presidential hopeful had to say while addressing America's most powerful and well-funded homosexual activist group........The former First Lady seemed "completely beholden" to HRC's agenda, LaBarbera says. "It's astonishing to watch the evolution of liberals," he observes. "Once they start down that road of the homosexual agenda, it seems as if it's a matter of a few years before they're going all the way."

You think that final sentence/pun was intended?

Uh Oh.

Thanks for the ping. I almost missed this.

I don't think it will be "missable" for long.

"We've got a good conservative candidate trying to run for office here in my county for delegate. He's being attacked by some republicans on blogs because he is, in fact, Faisal Gill, a man that Michelle went after a couple of years ago while fishing for terrorists.

He was just a nice young man who signed up to make some money with an organization that he had no way of knowing would turn out to have ties to terrorism.

Then he had the temerity to work for his government in Homeland Security, Michelle's favorite whipping-boy.

He was cleared of any wrongdoing, but you can't get your name back and the internet never forgets unless you are a liberal and then Google wipes it's cache."

I'm very sorry to hear that. But not too terribly surprised.

And you are certainly right about Google. They could teach Stalin some airbrushing of history lessons.

Apparently a gay Republican is a "faggot" and a gay Democrat is a "homosexual activist". Now get with the program. or get in line for rehab.

Haha, the left views this kind of thing as 'proof' they needed for more of us to have rehab and they will make them shout for more tax dollars to 'educate' the chil-drun, you know, so rehab will not be necessary in the beautiful, 'hate' free future they envision. And more rehab, too.

I read most of the posts here. Very valid points.
I met Matt at CPAC. He is intelligent, well spoken and polite.
He wrote of his experience and the conservative pro-military ran with it. In the conversations, as well as on his blog and on O'Reilly he didn't express any activism for Gays in the military. His issue seems to equality in freedom of speech on his college campus.
But let's rip him apart and drag him through the mud because the liberal blogs , the conservatives and Malkin say so.
we sure do eat our own...
PS: I'm sure if we looked into anyone's past there would be a skeleton or two...even the most righteous.

That's where I honestly believe this is headed. If I'm right, it wouldn't have made sense for him to express any gay activism when he was wooing the right-wing media. That's the nature of the "rope-a-dope".

I don't trust the left. And I have serious reservations about trusting anyone who spent a decade making gay porn films. And the fact that on the day Matt Sanchez is outed as a gay porn star, Hillary Clinton is out there front-and-center making "don't ask, don't tell" an issue once again, makes me deeply suspicious of where this whole thing is going.

Sorry if you take umbrage with that. But it's not going to keep me from speaking my mind. I think this is a set-up. I think Matt Sanchez is going to be the poster-boy for right-wing hypocrisy and conservative oppression in the 2008 election. Time will tell.

Your points are very valid and you may be correct in this being a set up. By who? Sanchez? Who nominated this Marine for the award and as stated, why didn't anyone check his credibility ? Perhaps Sanchez joined the Marines to turn his life around. He was due to ship to Iraq as a civilian journalist. The goal was to get the soldiers side of the story out and expose all the 'good' going on. I guess he will never have that chance.
I do agree...the left will use this to show how hypocritical the right is.I guess conservatives should learn to do their homework first before making fools of themselves and giving the left ammunition and talking points.

True, but "gay porn performer" isn't just a mere skeleton, it's a wooly mammoth boneyard.

may be correct in this being a set up. By who? Sanchez? Who nominated this Marine for the award

I wish I knew. It would take some doing to track any financing for this guy through the usual suspects (Soros, Fenton, Hillary). The only references I've been able to find about the award itself are to Sanchez' receiving it at CPAC. I can't even determine whether or not this was the first ever award with Jeane's name on it.

Sanchez has his reponse to all of this up now on his blog. He has a few comments in there that stick with me and keep my initial impressions intact:

(SNIP) - We all have a tendency to want to hate the enemy; I suppose that’s why Ann Coulter got applause when she used the term ragheads (that was the last Coulter scandal, or was it the Jersey Girls?)

Maybe it's just me but I thought it was odd that he refers to Ann's PREVIOUS CPAC appearance rather than this most recent one, seeing she used the word "faggot", and Sanchez is an admitted gay man.

(SNIP) - I learned a lot at the CPAC, mostly that I’m not as right-wing among the true believers as I feel in a place like New York, where people glibly promote diversity unless you don’t agree with them.

I would assume anyone who was pro-war at Columbia U in NYC (where his complaints stem from) would be considered "right wing".

(SNIP) - Why did I become a conservative? Just look at what I left, and look at who is attacking me to today? Let’s face it people, you’re all cynical enough to know that if I had espoused liberal causes, spoken out against the military, got a liberal award for courage and then outed with a porn-past, you’d be clamoring for my memoir, and nominating me for a diversity ticket with Barack Obama. Instead those who complain about wire-tapping reserve the right to eavesdrop on my private life for political brownie points. Sure, I took a picture with Ann Coulter, I don’t endorse what she said, but anyone in the military would defend her right to say it. I realize that sounds prohibitively phony, but gee it’s really true! The right to say things is precious and like so many others, my decision to serve after September 11th is even a more salient point of my past. I feel I’m duty bound to help out my fellow veterans in any fight, both foreign and domestic.

I still don't know why he 'became' a conservative. I do know the reason he enlisted after September 11 is because of his past, though I don't claim to understand that. I have no idea what his past in porn has to do with enlisting. "I was a hooker, than 9-11 happened and I had to do something."

(SNIP pt a) - I can tell you that by the time I finished my summer tour of the major studios, I was pretty disgusted with myself... (SNIP pt b) - With so many experiences since the last George Bush was in power, you’ll have to forgive me for not listing a summer job in my resume, so many years later.

Twice in this he refers to his working in gay porn as a "summer" job. The gay blogs - who exposed Sanchez (not in a bad way - they love him still even though he 'lies down with dogs [i.e.conservatives]'), refer to his span of 40 films using 2 stage names. 40 gay porn films in one summer that cover multiple years in the 90s? Perhaps his prolificness is what attracted such a following even a decade later. And no mention of his being a $250/hour & $1200/day male escort during that time, and as recently as LAST YEAR.

He closes with a head's up that he's being asked to speak and appear all over again about this, so I'm sure we'll learn more. Whether that is good or bad I don't know. Hillary's speech to the gay activists that she wants to end "don't ask don't tell" and the timing of this hitting the blogosphere was too coincidental for me.

And here is an interview from yesterday with the gay blogger who 'broke' the story:

Matt Sanchez Responds, Sort Of

(excerpt:) SANCHEZ: I'm a registered Republican, although I will admit that I voted for Hilary the first time around at Senate, following 9/11. I have donated money and time. There's a Ric Santorum pic running around somewhere, I'm sure your little elves will find it at some point.

Also, his Myspace is now private. Cached version here.
