Well, this is an interesting development, to say the least. As I noted on Saturday, one of the honorees at CPAC was Matt Sanchez--a corporal in the Marine Corps Reserve and junior at Columbia University who spoke out about anti-war thugs on campus. He received the Jeane Kirkpatrick Academic Freedom Award and a standing ovation from the CPAC crowd at the Ronald Reagan Banquet. He has also posed with Ann Coulter and me, been published in the NYPost, and appeared on Fox News Channel's O'Reilly Factor and Hannity and Colmes. There are now tawdry rumors about Sanchez's past lighting up the left-wing blogs. Cpl. Sanchez says he will respond on his blog.
It's only a matter of time before the MSM goes nuts with the story. Report on the everyday progress in Iraq? Forget it. Sex, homosexuals, and the GOP? Get ready for wall-to-wall coverage a la Foley, Gannon, and Haggard.
Should CPAC organizers be embarrassed if the rumors about his alleged porn star past are true? Well, yes. Next time, they should do more extensive background research before handing out an honor with Jeane Kirkpatrick's name on it.
Does it take away from Sanchez's actions and words in defense of the military at Columbia? Absolutely not.
I guess we'll see who the real bigots--on both sides of the aisle--are now. I have a feeling Ann Coulter isn't the only one who'll be tossing around the f-word as the story develops.
And not just in the "schoolyard," "sophomoric" kind of way.

"Next time, they should do more extensive background research..."
Be careful what you wish for, I say.
I guess that is what journalism is all about these days. As long as you believe something is true, who needs facts?
If its true, and I have no knowledge one way or another, the MSM will run with it.
My question to all the PC conservatives is will they issue 2 thousand word screeds condemning it like they did Coulter's quip? I bet not. Gay porn = OK. A brilliant shot at PC by Coulter = evil personified.
"Yet she seems non-chalant over the gay porn rumours, only worried that the left will have a field day with it."
Or worried they might miss it.
It sure sounds like a rhetoric fragging to me.
(And this time the metaphor is actually being applied correctly.)
Malkin is trying to discredit the heads of CPAC.
"At least their husbands."
Odd.
.....LOL.....don't know if this is funny or not....Mayor Newsome of S.F. last week gave an award to some gay porn star without knowing it ......and now so do we....haha, talk about the shoe being on the other foot now......
Not sure of Michelle's motivation.
I do know I have no use for the heads of CPAC after calling Ann's joke "hate speech".
Nor did I have any use for the Vapors conservatives that feigned disgust with Ann's comments.
The MSM will go into orbit over rehab candidates but, will like New Orleans, ignore the school buses in the district parking lot available to transport evacuees. If the MSM is this stupid, we can outsmart them and use their stupidity to our advantage.
Let's start a whispering campaign: the Hildebeast is a Lesbo! As Bill Clinton has been quoted as saying, Hillary has had more women than me!" Ssssshhhhhhhh!
Things like that never matter to the left.
In case you didn't notice, the self-same actor who used the word faggot to attack a homosexual, still got an NAACP "Image Award" for his sterling character.
Coulter, who made a joke about his using the word, got excoriated.
We live in parallel universes.
.....Sam, could be.....but on the other hand, like a candidate disclosing his stupid past mistakes....it is always better to disclose OUR mistake then to let the MSM do it latter and catch us flat footed.....that to me is a good strategy if something may get out.....that way we take the air out of it before it gets going.....
It is kinda funny. Funnier to me will be if the conservative blogosphere rally's around to protect gay porn after getting the vapors over Ann's quip.
If they do that, I'm giving up hope on the GOP forever.
....lol....without defending Mayor Dipsh**, the left actually scolded him big time in S.F. which surprised me, since even alot of them don't care about being gay but they don't necessarily like the porn aspect.....go figure
I'll have the roast duck with the mango salsa.

So if Malkin hadn't been the first to report Coulter's joke, and to condemn it so dramatically, the media might have had a field day with it?
Thank God Malkin diffused that then.
with and mary carey running for office in cali and showing up for republican dinners; and mimi running in nevada, pubs have already been labeled as pro-porn.
That made no sense to me either.

It's similarly ironic to me that Ann Coulter was one of the few, if only, people to defend Jeff Gannon once his homosexual activities were exposed.
Many of the same people who are waxing so self-righteous about her joke and calling it hate speech and her a gay-bashing bigot, were front and center mocking Jeff Gannon for his homosexuality.
But they would rather be self-righteous than consistent.
Not quite. I thought they did a good job of not getting involved in the controversy. Here is their statement:
"The just completed 2007 Conservative Political Action Conference on March 1 3, 2007, was the largest in the 34 year history of the event, featuring 33 panels on a variety of public policy issues, 24 stand alone speakers including public officials, writers, student activists, media personalities and comedians. ACU, the events primary sponsor and CPAC strive to provide a platform and forum for a variety of differing views and personalities. ACU and CPAC do not condone or endorse every speaker or their comments at the conference. As such, ACU and CPAC leave it to our audience to determine whether comments are appropriate or not. Ann Coulter is known for comments that can be both provocative and outrageous. That was certainly the case in her 2007 CPAC appearance and previous ones as well. But as a point of clarification, let me make it clear that ACU and CPAC do not condone or endorse the use of hate speech, said David A. Keene, ACU Chairman.
