"Before this is over, you might see calls for his impeachment." - Chuck Hagel
Esqire Magazine ^ | 3-7-07 | Charles P. Pierce

Posted on 03/07/2007 7:32:45 AM PST by JayHawk Phrenzie

But there are no places in Hagel for metaphor. His face is too meaty for poetics, its tectonics shaped by old football injuries and one horrible day in the Mekong Delta when the flesh of it bubbled and burned. His sentences are too often arrhythmic, breaking in the middle, when what he's saying takes an unexpected turn that seems to startle him most of all.

"The president says, 'I don't care.' He's not accountable anymore," Hagel says, measuring his words by the syllable and his syllables almost by the letter. "He's not accountable anymore, which isn't totally true. You can impeach him, and before this is over, you might see calls for his impeachment. I don't know. It depends how this goes."

That's why I will never vote for that RINO pretender for President.

"...spoken by a conservative Republican from a safe Senate seat in a reddish state."

It remains to be seen if there are any conservatives, rather than just Republicans, left in Nebraska. We'll have to wait until he stands for election to find out. As to the "spoken by a conservative" part, not hardly IMO. Is this fruitcake still searching for a Democrat to run with him on a "fusion" ticket? If so, not much of a Republican either, but rather a typical prima donna, needing the spotlight and stroking by the media.

What a sleaze he's turned out to be.

Would that the anti-Rudy crowd would turn their venom on him.

Not to worry!

There's enough venom for both of the sleazes.

HAG-le is a bitter man who got his butt kicked.

He's going to spew forth his own venom, until he figures out that he's irrelevant.

Look, Hagel's a Democrat. But he knows if he joins them he'll be just another low-IQ moron stuck way back in the pack.

As a faux Republican, he gets tons of fawning liberal press coverage and unlimited TV time. For someone who is constituted of pure ego, how could he get a better deal than what he's got?

"Would that the anti-Rudy crowd would turn their venom on him." [Hagel]

Some of us still remember Rudy's behavior prior to deciding to run for President when he, like Hagel, popped up at the most inappropriate times to announce his backing for some Democrat, rather than the Republican candidate, so he, too, could bask in the media spotlight and curry favor with the press. Wouldn't surprise me if Rudy would choose him as VP, if nominated, but I guess there is only room for one of their egos on the stage at a time.

...I don't know if the author laughed...but I sure did after reading his florid pap for about five minutes...I can literally see this writer in front of me now---ponytail encrusted with streaking gray, cascading rivules flowing from the edge of the eyes to the melting jawbone, the aging hands mottled to the point of...and so on and so forth...godawful drivel
...I'm surprised the guy didn't take Hagel's picture off the page to substitute his own...he did everything else he could to inject himself into the piece...

"My money will never go to a Hagel, McCain, Lott, Snowe, Specter, Collins, or any of the others that decided to work against this administration instead of pushing through our agenda."

Why Lott? He seems like a pretty stand-up guy to me.

When I was younger, Esquire was all about Tom Selleck, nice cars, cigars, hot babes. Now it is all about anti-war screeds, global warming and left wing politics.

Lott is included because when he was majority leader of the Senate he was always enamored of being "friends with the other side" over working for us. He gave away our power and agree to sharing of power on the committees. Why? Because it has always been more important to him to be "liked" by the democrats rather than to fight for us.

Which is one reason we wanted him out of the leadership position. He will not fight for us. Turns out Frist was a very poor leader also. We lost our strongest fighter in Congress with the loss of Tom Delay.

Thank you management.

You are not a conservative if you would even consider impeachment of this president.

Go on to DU - they love those comments.

I don't thinkk its surging to the left.

I think there are a lot of "leaders" who have drifted leftwards, but their constituency is wondoering what in the world the people they elected to office think they are doing.

Hegel, Snowe, Chaffee, McCain, Romany, Giuliani, are counterbalanced by the mass of the Republican constituency which is far more conservative than they. There are still Hunter, Kyl, King (Of Iowa), Gingrich, Tancredo, etc, which represent traditional Republican philosophies.

But if the Repubs nominate a RINO nationally, and this could happen through the mechanics of the nomination process, despite the actual views of the majority of Republicans, then the Republican Party is pretty much finished as a conservative party or party of opposition.

It will instead become Democrat Light - a catch-up liberal party with no real support among the public.

The American Republic in all its history has NEVER faced the dangers it is facing now.

Yes, they do have the courage of thier convictions, and represent the views of their constituencies. When they take over, they don't worry about alienating ANYONE - they just plough stright ahead to achieve their objectives of undermining tradional America, pandering to its enemies, and diluting its military forces and economy.

The Republican leadership could do much to emulate the Democrat strenght of conviction instead of acting like the craven pack of cowards and leftist appeasers they have become.
