P.S. Neither country really has a "sovereign government" at all, though they've certainly come a long way over the last couple of years. The real indicator here is that their economies are based largely on U.S. currency transactions, and their heads of state are under the protection of U.S. military or security forces.

If Tony Blair had to walk around 10 Downing Street with U.S. Secret Service protection, I think it would be safe to say that Great Britain was no longer much of a sovereign nation at all.

Sure, they're not Switzerland. But the local police could shut down an abortion clinic if they want to. Or they can subcontract it out to Mookie Sadr's boys and have it blown up.
