I'm positively amazed at all the serious American conservative voices who are throwing right-wing flamethrower Ann Coulter under the bus for her schoolyard joke about political correctness and the word "faggot."
The snorts of disapproval and huffs and puffs are pouring in. "I was not amused." "She hurts the conservative movement." "We should never name-call." "She was a distraction from the serious straw poll that featured strong showings by Romney and Guiliani." And on and on...
Why are so many conservatives afraid to fight back?
Time and time again, we're called a variety of names by liberal Democrats. We wag our finger at them and warn them to stop calling us Nazis and liars and warmongers and the like.
So when one of our own gets under the skin of wimpy liberals, we burn her at the stake?
I hope everyone who wants to bash Ann Coulter had a chance to see her on "Hannity and Colmes" last night. As the videotape proved, her entire speech to the CPAC crowd included a series of zingers and punchlines and potshots at the other side. And as she said on the show, her joke was intended to be a commentary about the idiocy of sending a Hollywood actor into rehab because he used a bad word. Besides, unless John Edwards was preparing to announce that he's coming out of the closet, the happily married man with children should have no real worries about being called something he's not. She intended it to be the schoolyard taunt of "wuss", something said all the time.
Well, I'm not going to cave with the rest of the weenie liberals and pompous conservatives who like to eat their own. I think Ann Coulter is gutsy and terrific. Besides, she's a commentator, not a U.S. Senator.
No matter what else happens, hopefully it will have derailed the campaign of John "Faggot" Edwards.
The irony of course is that the up roar about Coulter's comment just shows how right she was. And he comment was not about Edwards but PC in general.
I agree, but on this one he is right. I am about sick of our Republicans. They are no better than Mrs. Clinton in Selma pretending to care about black folks. I am beginning to see us as a party of losers. The MSMs and the RATs will continue to walk on us until we knock their legs out from under their feet.
yeah but there was some big protest (I somehow missed) and the station is staying liberal. Somehow. Even though in Liberal Madison everybody listens to WORT or NPR. The station I listen to already has Rush, Vicki McKenna, and Sean Hannity.
We could use another conservative station because even with all those great shows and George Noory over night, they preempt them for baseball and stuff.
I can understand them preempting for Green Bay Packer football, 'cause that's religion, but all the other sports are so boring.
To be honest, I missed the joke originally and was somewhat hard on Ann. I have to admit I still cannot agree with her calling the Jersey girls harpies or saying their husbands might have divorced them.

They don't realize they are involved in political warfare.
I guess that one is on our side, from the tail number!
I blows my mind how many conservatives don't have the spine to reject the homos out right.
Personally, I would say that if someone does not agree 100% with Coulter on this issue, they do not deserve to be conservative.
Religion and homos do not mix. No matter what the new societal gentleness brings to the table, it is still wrong. Those who coddle to it, should not be welcome in Conservative circles... F**k Political Correctness. It's done enough damage to our society....
Privately owned MiG-15s and MiG-17s. In American hands.
Who'da thunk it?
God bless Ronald Reagan!
This isn't the first time she has done this,
The reaction to what she says...proves she was right.
It's not only funny, it's brilliant!
Exactamundo! She ups and makes fun of a cast member being sent to the "PC Gulag" and rehab (re-education) camp and it sails over everybody's head because they are in such a hurry to try and score on what she really didn't say.
If there was ever a more visible example of PC speech and thought control run amok this is it. The left', and too many on the right" are trying to create a "perfect storm" over a drizzle.
Idiots all. Beam me up Scotty, there's no intelligent life down here.
It's just not proper etiquette to go around using names like "faggot" when jokingly referring to limp-wristed little butt-buddy weenies like Edwards.
I, for one, cannot condone the use of such language when talking about a toe-sucking wussy pissant like Edwards.
Did someone say pissant?
F the Breck Boy.
"I still cannot agree with her calling the Jersey girls harpies or saying their husbands might have divorced them."
The woman is bizarre.
"Besides, she's a commentator, not a U.S. Senator."
Exactly! Plus, like Rush, she is also an entertainer. Entertainer/commentators are known to say what some would call outrageous things - depending on whose ox is getting gored.
Clearly in context the statement was no big deal. But Ann has a past history of personal attack, and misrepresentation. I think there are far better more eloquent spokespeople for the conservative movement, and that her vitriol has a cost in credibility. We should attack on issue, policy, facts, and analysis. When politics descends into the personal you lose all but your base. There is no need to retaliate against Liberal name calling, as it just makes them look bad when they do it.
