I'm positively amazed at all the serious American conservative voices who are throwing right-wing flamethrower Ann Coulter under the bus for her schoolyard joke about political correctness and the word "faggot."
The snorts of disapproval and huffs and puffs are pouring in. "I was not amused." "She hurts the conservative movement." "We should never name-call." "She was a distraction from the serious straw poll that featured strong showings by Romney and Guiliani." And on and on...
Why are so many conservatives afraid to fight back?
Time and time again, we're called a variety of names by liberal Democrats. We wag our finger at them and warn them to stop calling us Nazis and liars and warmongers and the like.
So when one of our own gets under the skin of wimpy liberals, we burn her at the stake?
I hope everyone who wants to bash Ann Coulter had a chance to see her on "Hannity and Colmes" last night. As the videotape proved, her entire speech to the CPAC crowd included a series of zingers and punchlines and potshots at the other side. And as she said on the show, her joke was intended to be a commentary about the idiocy of sending a Hollywood actor into rehab because he used a bad word. Besides, unless John Edwards was preparing to announce that he's coming out of the closet, the happily married man with children should have no real worries about being called something he's not. She intended it to be the schoolyard taunt of "wuss", something said all the time.
Well, I'm not going to cave with the rest of the weenie liberals and pompous conservatives who like to eat their own. I think Ann Coulter is gutsy and terrific. Besides, she's a commentator, not a U.S. Senator.
She's available.
LOL
Rare these days.
No she couldn't have.
People, she did not call Edwards a Faggot. She made a joke about how saying the word faggot will get you sent to rehab (Grey's Anatomy). Her joke/point was that it is reaching the point in this country that the PC police are sending people to rehab for speaking their minds.
Also, all this blow up over it is going to back fire on the left who specialize in name calling. Now every time anyone on the left says anything out of line they are going to have to explain why it is OK for them to do it but not for a conservative to do it. They are calling for boycotts of advertisers to her site if they don't pull their ads, so the next time some Dim calls Bush a liar or says he is stupid they are going to have to explain why they aren't calling for boycotts of the advertisers on their sites.
My guess is that most have bought into the lefts version of political speech rules.
There's big money behind the stalinism
It not only needs mocking it needs death.
Sadly so
LOL. Ol Jimrob is buddies with her, I think.
Who? Gallagher or F-Words?
Actually, here in Portland, when Tony Snow went to the WH and the slot opened up the station took my suggestion and put him in that slot a few days later. I dont listen to him because he's on at 12 noon and that's Rush Time. Besides, it's pre-recorded and I like to listen to live shows for any breaking news that may happen
Hah! Ditto. V's wife.
I seem to recall this thought-police crap breaking the surface with the comments by the baseball player (John Rocker?)about the collection of geeks and skanks he met on the NYC subway. But it has been going on in government and business for a long time. If any of these guardians of civility and public virtue were honest they would have been going ballistic for the last ten years over the obscene scam known as "diversity training." Courtesy of taxpayer dollars, BTW, in large quantities.
I'll take the Ann-bashers seriously when I get confirmation they ever stood up against this leftwing totalitarian bilge. That includes the "frontrunners," such as they are, and the self-annointed bigshot pundits of the right, as well.
You nailed it. They think if we just "play nice" that people will clearly abandon the evil Democrats for the "good, honest" Republicans.
Politics is a nasty business, and that is never going to change.
Democrats are nasty. Pubs always stand there and get smacked around. WHY were Clinton and Bush 41 within ten miles of each other let alone galivanting around the globe. And Bush 43 with Kennedy? The whole political right is becoming oppressively predictable. Except Ann. She can go a little over the top, still I like her. V's wife.
It's ok to call for someones death, just dont ridicule their perversions.
Maher needs to be deported!
And there is nobody who can dissect the libs argument and destroy it like Ann, nobody even comes close.
