Reid to Bush: No Pardon for Libby
ABC News ^ | March 6, 2007 | Paul Fidalgo

Posted on 03/06/2007 10:01:12 AM PST by West Coast Conservative

Moments after the guilty verdict handed to I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby was made public Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., called on President Bush to promise not to let Libby off the hook with a presidential pardon.

"I welcome the jury's verdict. It's about time someone in the Bush Administration has been held accountable for the campaign to manipulate intelligence and discredit war critics," said Reid in a press statement. "Lewis Libby has been convicted of perjury, but his trial revealed deeper truths about Vice President Cheney’s role in this sordid affair. Now President Bush must pledge not to pardon Libby for his criminal conduct."

Libby, a former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, was convicted on 4 of 5 counts of obstruction of justice, perjury and lying to the FBI in the investigation into the leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity.

I would call Harry a name, but I'd have to go to rehab for it.

We'll find out if W has cajones once and for all.

I can answer that for you: President Bush will let Scooter Libby twist in the wind. Meanwhile, Sandy Burglar gets to walk free.

I'm confused.

Wasn't perjury OK with Harry Reid when it was his boy Bill Clinton?

My bet is this conviction will be in appeals well through the end of W's term. W could pardon Libby in the last week of his term, and Libby would never spend any time in federal prison.

No matter what Bush or Repubs do, the left will scream for blood. I would never take an option off the table to appease them because it is a waste of time. Like the terrorists we fight, they see it as a weakness and an opportunity for attack.

..LOL....I don't think Bush has the cajones at all.. he dismisses the Border Patrol agents with nary a thought... I've lost alot of respect for him lately....actually, if he did pardon him, and not the Border Patrol guys, then I'd say he is even a coward to some extent....

W should pardon Libby on January 20, 2009 if his conviction is still on the books.

I wouldn't be surprised if several of the convictions were thrown out on appeal.

No point in pardoning him until the appeals process has run its course.

Exactly, I don't want Bush to pardon him. I want him to be found not guilty. But would I would appreciate is for Bush to show some righteous anger and open his mouth and say loud and clear that Libby is not guilty and say why he is not guilty and say it with some damn conviction!

"I can answer that for you: President Bush will let Scooter Libby twist in the wind."

As bad as this day has been, we've all knew it was coming. First it has very little to do with Bush. Second I didn't like it when Clinton pardoned his friends and family and I wouldn't like it any better if Bush did it. Libby needs to handle his own mess on his own and Bush has no business getting involved in anyway. We always make cracks that it's W's fault, unfortunately we do it here as well.

Sadly, Libby will be in jail until Jan 20, 2009.

So, Harry Reid (POS-D) is now running the administration. Wow, I missed something.
