Reid to Bush: No Pardon for Libby
ABC News ^ | March 6, 2007 | Paul Fidalgo

Posted on 03/06/2007 10:01:12 AM PST by West Coast Conservative

Moments after the guilty verdict handed to I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby was made public Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., called on President Bush to promise not to let Libby off the hook with a presidential pardon.

"I welcome the jury's verdict. It's about time someone in the Bush Administration has been held accountable for the campaign to manipulate intelligence and discredit war critics," said Reid in a press statement. "Lewis Libby has been convicted of perjury, but his trial revealed deeper truths about Vice President Cheney’s role in this sordid affair. Now President Bush must pledge not to pardon Libby for his criminal conduct."

Libby, a former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, was convicted on 4 of 5 counts of obstruction of justice, perjury and lying to the FBI in the investigation into the leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity.

Has Dirty Harry ever uttered a single syllable of protest regarding the events of January 19 and 20,2001 at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?

Bush is not going to pardon Libby. Bush might be the right man for the WOT but when it comes to politics he's a ball-less wonder. He's got no fight in him. He's spent the last 6 years letting the democrats piss all over his agenda and he's not about to change now.

I don't think we should allow people to circumvent our justice system just to "piss someone off".

Maybe The President can find an hundred-million tax evader & traitor to pardon if he can't find a good cocaine dealer to pardon.

And I don't have much faith that he will pardon our border agents either.

Reid is such a disgusting little creature. He's quite the hypocrite. His illegal land deal should have put him in jail, but the Republicans don't have enough of a spine to go after them. They've missed so many chances, because they're cowards!

We'll find out if W has cajones once and for all.

Way too soon for that. It would be politically disasterous to pardon him before the appeal process is concluded - that would be seen as usurping the judicial process midstream.
