The government decides who is lying.

A jury decides who is lying.

Libby got 24 years for lying to the government.

The moral of the story: don't lie. I don't know why he lied, since the administration did nothing wrong, but he lied anyway, and he will rightly pay for it.

I wish everyone who perjured himself got jail time.

"He should have referred to his notes. The Feds did. He should have returned to the grand jury and corrected his testimony. Rove did. He shouldnt have lied. Libby did."

Exactly.

"Can any justice come out of DC? It votes en-BLOC for democrats 92% of time with a 88+% african base.

What kind of justice is that? Black-african-liberal-boyz-n-hood jury pool....

and we were told that Simi Valley was not a fair draw for a jury pool for OJ?

Give me a break"

You are so silly. The makeup of the jury was 9 women, 3 men, 10 Caucasians, and 2 blacks. I think Mr. Libby got a fair shot.

"NO. This is justice. He lied under oath. End of story.

I'm sick of "b-b-but the other side did it" defense of BOTH parties. We have to hold both sides to the same high standards or we're just engaging in partisan BS. We have to be willing to show these nozzles that corruption, lying, and general dishonest behavior will not be tolerated."

AMEN!!! I'm sick and tired of people trying to justify one person's bad behavior by bringing up another person's bad behavior. If it's wrong, then that means it's wrong no matter which side does it.

I stand corrected on my guess...but it is DC and if you listened to Rush today, you'll know that the defense side had to sift through Moveon.org types and ended up placing a guy on the jury who worked with Woodward and a neighbor of Tim Russert.

Hardly a fair shot

What PROOF was ever presented that he lied to anyone?

Had lunch with Ari Fleischer on one day and asked him to leak the Plame story to reporters and then three days later learned of it for the "very first time" from Tim Russert, who didnt even know it. Even if you assume Russert did know, it's not credible that Libby could find out for the first time three days after asking Fleischer to leak the info. Also Cheney, two state department officials and two CIA officials had contacted Libby and told him about Plame and Libby had chaired meetings to discuss what to do about Wilson and Plame. Libby's own notes support this. Yeah he learned it first from Russert. What a load of bullcrap. He lied and he got caught because he thought Russert would go to jail rather than give him up.

The problem here is the double standard that allows you to lie if you are a member of the Democrat party, but you get hounded til you make a mistake if you are a Republican in Washington.

Only if you have the inept Bush Justice Department handling the cases like Berger and the Border Guards. This wasnt something that the DEMS did to us. Bush did it to us.

I've never seen that posted as fact that came out at the trial. Do you have a link where we can read about those things presented as fact in the trial?

The bottom line is this was a political witch-hunt by sleaze bags and the bad guys won. What are we going to do about it?

Next time elect a President with some balls. He heads the executive branch. He runs the Justice Department. He can fire prosecutors. He can end prosecutions and pardon defendents. Dont blame the Dems, put the blame where it belongs (on a gutless President with 30% approval rating).

Wasn't Armitage the guy who first revealed Plame's identity to the press?

So? And Rove was the other Novak source. Actually Libby did a little leaking and Fleischer some, after being asked to by Libby.

No, he's not going to prison because he doesn't have a perfect memory, he's going to jail because he was too naieve to fully appreciate the depth of the partisan hate for the Bush administration and the lengths that they are willing to go to destroy everyone associated with the Bush administration. His lawyer claimed during the trial that Libby was the scapegoat for the Bush administration, but it wasn't the administration that put him in that position, it was the prosecution. I guess, Bush should bear some of the blame for ordering the administration to co-operate. He should have ordered all of them to have a memory loss and then denounced the investigation and exposed Wilson for the liar that he is.

When will Bush get angry enough to speak out?

Fleischer testified that he had lunch with Libby three days before the date that Libby said he spoke with Russert. He knows this because he only had lunch with Libby once in his time at the White House. Fleischer said Libby asked him to get the story out about Wilson and Plame and that Wilson had been asked by his wife, not Cheney to go to Niger. Fleischer said he did so and then worried when the investigation broke that maybe had committed a crime. He had one reporter support him on this and another who did not as far as whether he told him about Plame. For a quick synopsis of the timeline you can go to the indictment itself.

Yes, DNC talking points spouted by many here who obviously haven't a clue what the trial was about in the first place. It was about a he said, she said, with no evidence to the contrary. No suborning of perjury, no evidence, no testimony of deliberate lies.

There was no CIA "leak", except for Wilson himself who was the first to be a "source" to "reporters" in 2 articles about his trip, then to WRITE about his "secret" mission, sent by a "secret" wife, and lied about who sent him.

In reading the lies about his office the VP, his staff, and others RESPONDED to reporters who WERE ASKING who really sent Wilson, and why his "report", ie lie, was not read by the VP.

I would say the media is much more responsible for this situation than Bush. He ran as one who would extend the olive branch to Dems and that is what he has done. The fact that they took advantage of this trait to destroy him and the country is not his fault. He is what he is.
