McCain Staffers Bail Off the Crazy Train
Radar ^ | March 6, 2007

Posted on 03/06/2007 8:57:41 AM PST by West Coast Conservative

John McCain's Obama- esque remarks about our "wasted" resources in Iraq weren't the only comments that landed him in hot water after a recent appearance on Late Night with David Letterman. Many of his staff were blindsided by his campaign announcement. And several aides were so outraged that they've quit, say Republican insiders.

"They're imploding—he had a game plan that had him announcing much later in the year," one top Republican aide tells Radar, adding that the campaign is "in serious trouble ... Romney's plan and Rudy's jump in the polls caused him to scrap his plans completely. When you do that, and you're not prepared for it, the staff goes crazy. Some of his coordinators in different states were pulling their hair out!"

Another insider, a guru to the conservative movement, says that McCain himself is growing increasingly desperate in the wake of his downward slide in the polls—a slip hastened by his steadfast support of the very man who savaged him and his family during the 2004 election, George W. Bush, and the president's unpopular plan for troop surge in Iraq. "One of the top aides to the Republican leadership told me that McCain has lost so much support, he's simply beside himself. He's wringing his hands. Things are sinking fast—in two or three weeks, we'll know if there is any recovery."

It didn't help any that McCain was the one leading Republican candidate who skipped last weekend's Conservative Political Action Conference. In CPAC's straw poll on Saturday, McCain came in fifth place—behind Sam Brownback. When the results were announced, attendees booed at the mention of his name.

John McCain wants us to believe that he both hates and loves conservatives and that he both hates and loves liberals.

His "principled" stand on campaign finance is nothing more than the arrogance of a politician trusting that what he sees in the mirror is the real thing.

It isn't. His mirror is the same one most narcissists use.

My Prediction:

Hillary, "Wing-nut" Obama, McCain and Giuliani will all be out of the running by January. American will have tired of ALL of them by then.

My Hope: Fred Thompson throws his hat in the race in September.

You watch - he'll end up as Hitlery's VP candidate if she wins the primaries and he doesn't. They're 2 peas in a pod.

And his global warming antics with Hitlery - don't forget he supports Kyoto and higher taxes re global warming.

The guy is a big government liberal but for some reason thinks he's a Republican.

McCain is no longer the media darling, Obama is. He'll never make the adjustment.

John McCain is going to become the Ross Perot of 2008. The man is such a high-functioning psychotic that once he loses that first primary, he'll jump ship "just to teach all you idiot Republicans a lesson."

Reelected by a landslide in 2004. Senate terms are six years. He will not run again.

Funny, that is exactly what my husband said.

Damn, you're right, I thought he was up again in 08. He would do well to not bother because he has shat in his proverbial nest as far as Repulicans go. And as far as the country's highest office goes, I have as good a chance of taking the helm as he does.

Age and health will prevent another run but if he did run he would win easily. I have opposed McCain since he was a Congressman and would do so again but what I see here is garbage.

Isn't that the truth? I still get emails from him. I sent an email saying I would not support him for any national office and have received 2 more since then.

Very funny. Reminds me of a trip that I made from Bangkok to Takhli, Thailand, in 1965. I tried for several days to catch a flight to Takhli with no success. I was, at that time, the lone air traffic control radar fixer and I knew that there was trouble in Glocomora. Friends attempted to warn me against taking that bus. I didn't listen and had the dubious honor of sharing the bus with poultry, pigs and you just name it.

Actually, I had it pretty good. I was inside the bus, pinned to a wall by throngs of people, some of who didn't smell all that good. There were others on the roof and I noticed that the bus was swaying from side to side. I never imagined that the gates of Takhli AB, Thailand, were attractive but they were in the wee hours of that morning.

All in all, it was a good experience -- which I would never hope to repeat.

Crazy Train... LOL... watch the maniac run as an Independent.

Maybe but he won't be any Ross Perot. He'd be lucky to do as well as Ralph Nader.
