'By the way, this aid comes on top of the standard bilateral assistance that we provide. When I came into office, the United States was sending about $860 million a year in foreign aid to Latin America and the Caribbean. Last year, we nearly doubled that amount, to a total of $1.6 billion. Altogether, thanks to the good work of members of the United States Congress, we have sent a total of $8.5 billion to the region with a special focus on helping the poor.'

The getting Latin Americans to take up English is helpful--especially if they are going to immigrate (ideally legally, but realistically legally and illegally).

President Bush...with all due respect, and thanking God that is has been you at the helm these last years instead of those you faced off against...I care about their plight too, and that is why we have reliious and other private charitable organizations to help them
It is not the job of our Federal Government to help those people...it is their job, assisted by charitable contributions from individual and private organizations...short of our absolute national interests being threatened or absolute right of passage and commerce being threatened militarily.
Out government's job is to protect and defend the people of this nation, its citizens within our borders...and to make sure those borders are secure from crimonal invaders of any type. Please be about that business.

Mine is a less futilistic perspective; they better be legal.

This is what he meant to concentrate on before AlQueda rudely interrupted.

What the president is saying, in Spanglish, is that our border has become the perimeter of the hemisphere. While he speaks, his trade representatives are renegotiating the border at the latest Doha trade talks. when he talks about the 'consent of the governed', he is lying.

I am so glad that President Bush feels it is MY job, as an American taxpayer, to make sure that Latin Americans (within and outside our borders) have every opportunity that American citizens have.

I wish someday we could elect an American not a globalist as president. Just about everything this president has done has been a disaster.

He says "el sue o Americano es para todos " many times-- America is for ALL.
American citizens have to foot the bill for this grandiose traitorous 'generosity' with our taxes and the loss of our sovereignty and country.

The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America is now being exteneded further south.
The want to make of us, what the EU is doing to Europe...and that has nothing to do with the Constitution, our traditional way of life, or the core, fundamental values it is all based upon.

American citizens have to foot the bill for this grandiose traitorous 'generosity' with our taxes and the loss of our sovereignty and country. Thanks for the ping. I couldn't read all of this. Bush sounds uneducated, an embarrassment to the U.S. I have heard that so much from Hispanics unable to say one sentence in English or Spanish. Actually, it is an embarrassment to that person as he is unable to put his thought process into on language. Bush shouldn't be mocking these people.
American citizens should not be footing the bill for the failure of NAFTA, CAFTA or the FTAA. Hdowever, just keep on working as the rest of the world needs your taxes.

He obviously thinks more about his globalist plans than he does about America. Rather than sending billions of dollars to third world countries and allowing those countries to invade us, perhaps he should be cleaning up the mess here in America first.
What a huge disappointment/disaster GWBush has been!

From New York to Rio de Janeiro to Buenos Aires and Montreal, we speak different languages, but our democracies all derive their legitimacy from the same source -- the consent of the governed. Too bad he isn't actually governing that way with his scoff-law illegal alien policies.

I think we have a chance in this next election cycle.
Whom would you suppose is the "Americanist" and not a "globalist" candidate?
