A FReeper who I will not embarrass by naming has sent me the following FReepmail:

"Your inane post on a serious thread does not advance the cause of Free Republic. Such sophomoric attempts at humor bring discredit to FR and validate the growing perception that this forum has become a magnet for inarticulate people that would be better suited in chat room for lonesome adolescents. Feel free to post again after you have matured a bit."

My reply is as follows:

Without naming you, I have posted your message in the thread, with my reply, for the edification of others.

Point by point:

This is not and never was a serious thread. The subject matter is frankly ludicrous. Alarmist fantasies about the fate of the Earth have besieged us of late, and the claims have become ever more apocalyptic. Injecting levity is my way of expressing my disdain for such stuff.

I am not here to "advance the cause", but to engage in discussion, occasionally humorous and once in a while sophomoric, with like-minded people.

I don't give a wet slap whether leftists think I'm inarticulate; I will let the syntax, grammar, and spelling in my posts speak for me on that issue. While not calling you a leftist, I aver that I will not give that self-same wet slap for your opinion either.

As for maturity, Neener neener neener.

I see it as a little %itch-slapping because of not taking serious what some 'fear monger' takes as serious. Discredit FR? It's more like "using FR" with a little 'get on the bandwagon' so the media can use it to show how a conserative site agrees with them. Very old tactic.

Was message from earth hugging AlGore? Although, the demand is more the hillary type - intimidation and name calling. Inarticulate people, lonesome adolescents, sophomoric, implied immaturity. IMO, this is the mindset of a lib - a fear monger - who uses a conservative site to advance IT'S cause through back door intimidation. Anyone missing a 'cat', get a call from IRS.
