When will you all learn? The Politburo members like Al Bore and Sugarkane West don't have to abide by the same rules as the Proletariat.

Next time I need to go the Europe I will have to give K. West a call to see how I to can charter a private jet with a chef on board for only $4000.00.
Sounds very cheap to me.
What a Deal!

Offsets, the modern-day indulgence. I'm sure Johann Tetzel would be proud.

I wonder if they took John Kerry's hairdresser along for the ride. :)

I would certainly respect Kanye more if he says, "yes, I'm going to do it. I want the food, and I'll probably do it again" rather than issue an apology and claim he didn't understand the horrible damage it would cause Mother Earth. Mother Earth is a beeyotch and Kanye just busted a cap in her [explitive for backside].

I was not aware that you could charter a private jet to cross the Atlantic for $4,000.00. Read it again. Where does it say "charter jet"?
Also, the $4k is just the restaurant's cut:
for about $4000 "plus travel and accomodation for the restaurant's head chef"

It doesn't say he rented a plane, just that he paid to fly the chef and the food over.

Okay thanks, I must have read that wrong.
So in other words the jet would have flown across that Atlantic even if West had not wanted his food for the UK?

It's OK, he just needs Al Bore to send him the bill for purchase of enough "carbon offsets" from Gore's private capital management company and it's a win/win for Kanye and Al Bore (Kanya gets his fancy trans-Atlantic dinners whenever he wants and Al Bore gets more money for his scam.

Thus the plane would have flown with or without West's food order?

So in other words the jet would have flown across that Atlantic even if West had not wanted his food for the UK? That's the way I read it. Jets fly across the Atlantic all the time. It's just that he paid for the chef to travel on one, and he paid the restaurant to compensate their loss of the chef.
Still an extravagant waste, but not the eco-disaster everyone thinks...

To those trying to make sense of the quoted $4,000.00 figure in this article, please click on the linked AP article for a bit more detail. Here it is again:
Kanye West gets food delivery from U.K. - Yahoo! News
The $4,000.00 figure was arrived at as an estimation of the restaurant's take on two nights. Most importantly, it does not include travel or accommodation.
The actual, entire bill for the escapade was most likely many times the quoted figure.
