Today I have seen the future and that future is President Rudy.
It's not that I'm voting for Rudy, but the vacuum to be filled has been filled.
Consider this:
Rudy Giuliani and Tony Snow are the only guys who have had to have fire marshals bar people from entering due to overcapacity in a very big room.
In the green room, Giuliani's speech was the only one to cause everyone to sit down, shut up and watch.
More and more, the conservatives at CPAC are realigning. You have the Brownback folks, the Mitt folks, and the people who are headed quickly to Rudy. And you know what? They are more or less cheerful in doing it.
They've found the guy who knows he needs them to get in the door. They know the calculus Rudy has made -- the conservatives aren't selling out their principles; Rudy is telling them he won't impose his social view on them, but he'll keep them safe.
After all, abortion is not an issue when a terrorist has killed you.
Look for all guns to turn on Rudy now. He's been the frontrunner all along and now the rest of the pack realizes it.
The reception he got at CPAC should worry them.

No and No. Ain't gonna happen.
Rudy starts piling up the fundraising bucks and this thing could be over by March 2008.
The other part of the headline.
Terrorism is not an issue when you've been aborted.
The PBA ban can stop as many abortions each year as the number of people killed on 9-11. Abortion should not and cannot be second-fiddle to terrorism. They are both vitally important issues.
Terrorism isn't an issue when an abortionist has killed you.
Abortion is the earliest terrorism.
If you watch Giuliani closely, almost everything he talks about is from the past. That's why the title and premise of this article is laughable.
Rudy is the future. If the future is 1974.
I love the comparison of social conservatives to Islamists. You Rudy boosters are becoming more morally bankrupt with each passing day.
I Have Seen the Future: A lot republicans are pulling their glasses down on their nose to read this here column.. and chuckling..
Like your support of Rudy Giuliani, you have that wrong. Abortion is permissible in certain circumstances under current Islamic law as it was in practice during the time of the Crusades.
If that happens we can also consider the Conservative movement over as well .
The real key is this, who is going to beat Rudy? It sure as hell won't be Romney and McCain is falling apart. He looks old, and his position on the war, rightly or wrongly, is turning him into Bob Dole.
George Allen really, really blew it, because I think he would be way up there now the way this has played out. If he hadn't made so many mistakes...though that proves he probably shouldn't be Pres.
I see only one name that could swoop in and do something to the Right of Rudy and that is Fred Thompson, but he has probably already waited too long.
If a well spoken person on the right showed up other than Gingrich, they could get a huge boost in money and ground game. But I haven't seen them...and they have to appear roughly about NOW to have a prayer.
Looks like Rudy v Hillary to me..possibly Edwards.
Don't care if he raises seventeen billion dollars and fifty-seven cents ... there are many who will work hard to see that he doesn't get the nomination and many more who will not vote for him in the unlikely event that he does. That is only my opinion -- well actually it is my hopes and prayers as well.
Oh, it will since there is NO candidate which can beat him.
And the article is 100% correct that the other candidates are worried as hell. Rudy stole the show and made great inroads at the American CONSERVATIVE Union with minimal effort. Meanwhile Hunter was destroyed. Only Romney and Rudy came out of this to improve their standings. Brownback's showing was an anomality not reflective of anything real.
Rasmussen: In a match-up between the early 2008 frontrunners, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) leads New York Senator Hillary Clinton (D) 52% to 43%.
