I Have Seen the Future: It Is Giuliani (Red State.com)
Red State.com ^ | 3/5/07 | Eric Erkickson

Today I have seen the future and that future is President Rudy.

It's not that I'm voting for Rudy, but the vacuum to be filled has been filled.

Consider this:

Rudy Giuliani and Tony Snow are the only guys who have had to have fire marshals bar people from entering due to overcapacity in a very big room.

In the green room, Giuliani's speech was the only one to cause everyone to sit down, shut up and watch.

More and more, the conservatives at CPAC are realigning. You have the Brownback folks, the Mitt folks, and the people who are headed quickly to Rudy. And you know what? They are more or less cheerful in doing it.

They've found the guy who knows he needs them to get in the door. They know the calculus Rudy has made -- the conservatives aren't selling out their principles; Rudy is telling them he won't impose his social view on them, but he'll keep them safe.

After all, abortion is not an issue when a terrorist has killed you.

Look for all guns to turn on Rudy now. He's been the frontrunner all along and now the rest of the pack realizes it.

The reception he got at CPAC should worry them.

The abortions in the USA in one day stops beating hearts equivalent to the number killed on 9/11.

I had a similar experience with a friend of a friend who was talking up RINO-rudy pretty good.

I made him aware of his views on abortion and gun control, and that shut him up about rudy.

"But I am appalled at the venom at this forum for those who have jumped on a bandwagon. It's ugly and it's harmful."

I'm with you on this one, Dog! I make it no secret that I support Hunter at this point and will never vote for someone who doesn't even come close to being a Conservative. However, this board is starting to resemble MSM....dirty, mudslinging, backstabbing, MSM.

The election isn't for another 22 months. Nobody has "waited too long".

Howard Dean was inevitable 2 months before the Iowa Caucus

Bingo.

I've said it before - mark my words - it's MITT!

That is a pretty thoughtful post, and you raise some great questions to which I have no answer.

I'd say, though, that I doubt Dem operatives are throwing early support to Rudy. That's way too "conspiracy theory" for me when I can explain it merely as Rudy being "America's Mayor."

Even the left didn't accuse us of supporting Dean early in 2004. Some things are just what they are.

I personally think Rudy will win the GOP nomination and will be elected as President. What that means to conservative values and the agenda is certainly going to be a discussion point here for a very long time.

Of course, I could be completely wrong. Wouldn't be the first time here.

That is legalized abortion. All of those states also have abortion for impregnation by rape by an infidel.

You are still wrong.

It isn't conservative which is spoken of disdainfully it is "conservative" which draws scorn. Those who believe THEY are the only REAL conservatives are the ones scorned. NOT actual conservatives.

When the faux conservatives spend most of their time attacking people who have worked and voted for real conservatives as "RINOs" , "Leftists", "sellouts", "traitors" why wouldn't they be treated with disdain?

I've long suspected something like what you suggest, well before now. There are many attracted to Republican fiscal policies, who know that third parties don't win, and who despise what are popularly labeled "religious conservatives."

If Rudy does indeed win without the support of evangelical Christians, it could spell the early stages of real persecution of people of (theistic, Biblical) faith in this nation. Then we'll have to ask, to what end are we winning this WOT for which we've elected Rudy?

I hear Duncan is going to change his name because of that concern to...Killer.

However, the last poll I saw had hillary beating Rudy in his home state of New York by a landslide. Do you have a recent New York poll showing something different? National polls don't mean much. Electoral votes are gathered by winning states.

If the general election is between Hillary and Rudy, someone is going to lose their home state. It is much more important for Hillary than Rudy because the Democrats MUST have NY in order to win.

If Rudy has a 9-point national lead on Hillary, it is virtually impossible for him not to gain a majority in the electoral college.

Exactly right. Rudy's got the bullseye on his back now. They'll all be attacking him.

The problem with this theory is that hate for Hillary trumps the dissappointment with Rudy. I would just about vote for anyone over Hillary. If its not Hillary there may be people staying home helping Edwards or someone.

A true conservative? Elected in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois? You are joking I hope. How many true conservatives are elected in those states?

Come on be realistic if you want to convince people. There is no shame in admitting the truth.

Fiscally conservative socially liberal conservatives are a dime a dozen. It just doesn't make for good campaign fodder for either side to recognize their existence.

RINO-rudy's cross-dressing escapades and prancing with faggots and NAMBLA maggots in gay pride parades is latenight fodder, NOT Duncan Hunter's name.

Wasn't Rudy a part of the Reagan team?

Please do not waste my time or yours trying to compare Rudi to Ronald Reagan.

Thousands of people worked for the Ronald Reagan who are nothing like him.
