Okay, now something we can sink our teeth into concerning Rudy.

A new poll shows that Rudy Giuliani has pulled into the frontrunner position for the Republican nomination for President.

Seems a "new poll" said that Romney was ahead 21% to 17%.

Polls shmolls.....

Rudy blew off his owns son's high school graduation. What a POS. So what if they had difficulties, like all parents have, he could have at least shown up.

How much of this debt piled up in the last 6 months of his term? Since we are talking about New York City, I think the 9/11 trump card can be played here.

So, Rudy took over a city which, by any standard, was spending way too much money, and this "fiscal conservative" grew the budget fast than inflation for the 8 years he was there.

Kudos for slowing the rate of growth, but that's hardly the budget-cutting record we've been led to believe. I expected to see a budget lower than his predecessor, not bigger but by a smaller rate of increase.

3.6% is almost exactly the rate of inflation during that time, right?

If so that's not bad at all considering how difficult taping down spending is in NYC.

Has it started growing faster under Bloomberg? That would be your real test.

So he grew government, but not that much. And he's coming for guns as a bonus prize. But he's electable, and that's all that really matters. lol

Previous administrations let the City's infrastructure run down. Bridges, the main arteries in NYC, were not maintained, subways were horrible, roads were a mess.

During Giuliani's administration, the bridges were repaired, the subways were upgraded, free transfers were made easy between subways and buses via the new MetroCard, and the Staten Island Ferry became free to ride for all. Free! And he grew the budget very modestly during that time.

If anyone doesn't think that is miraculous fiscal responsibility in a place like NYC, they don't understand either fiscal responsibility or NYC.

The data suggest that Giuliani exerted reasonable fiscal control, particularly in comparison to... President Bush.

Not to mention Freeper fave, free-spending Duncan Hunter.

Obviously Giuliani is not the front runner, and Cato, the no-borders gang, is not qualified to weigh-in on anything regarding their pal No-borders-Rudy.

I find it pretty telling that a thread about the apparently good financial sense Rudy managed New York with denigrated immediately into off-the-topic mudslinging. People are scared, and it shows.

IOW we now have a parsing effort as to what parts of the content of a persons character are more "worthy".

Pay no mind to that man behind the curtain. I am the all powerful OZ!

So it is ok that Guliani is a gun control advocate,
it is ok Guliani is an abortion advocate,
it is ok Guliani is a homosexual based marriage advocate,

why?

Because the ALMIGHTY Cato Institute just crunched the numbers and blessed the infalible Rudy Guliani as close enough to get elected.

The following will tell you everything you ever needed to know about Rudy, the War on Islamic Terror, and the second amendment.

Empire State Building Sniper Attack, February 23, 1997:

A Palestinian gunman opened fire on tourists at an observation deck atop the Empire State Building in New York City, killing a Danish national and wounding visitors from the United States, Argentina, Switzerland, and France before turning the gun on himself. A handwritten note carried by the gunman claimed this was a punishment attack against the "enemies of Palestine."

Archives of Rudy Giuliani, Mayor's Message, 2 March 1997:

http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/rwg/html/97a/me970302.html

"Good morning. It has been a week since the terrible tragedy that happened last Sunday at the Empire State Building. And even as we grieve for the families and our hearts and prayers go out to them, perhaps we can use this senseless tragedy to re-energize the fight for gun control."

Once again, I am not impressed with the Media's polls. I do "NOT" like the media telling me who the GOP candidate is going to be or suppose to be.

The Media does not like the GOP and they especially do "NOT" like Conservatives. Why should I support the media's choice, which I might add, is a Liberal?

BUT, CATO has no room to talk. They want open borders and smaller government. Think about that one for a moment.

I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-gay rights, Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. “No, I have not supported that, and I don’t see my position on that changing,” he responded. Source: CNN.com, “Inside Politics” Dec 2, 1999 http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Rudy_Giuliani_Abortion.htm

ANDERSON COOPER 360 DEGREES (November 14, 2006)

RUDY GIULIANI (R), FORMER MAYOR OF NEW YORK CITY: I'm pro- choice. I'm pro-gay rights.

KING: Giuliani supports a woman's right to an abortion, and back in 1999, he opposed a federal ban on late-term abortions.

GIULIANI: No, I have not supported that, and I don't see my position on that changing.

KING: Immigration could be another presidential landmine. Back in 1996, Mayor Giuliani went to federal court to challenge new federal laws requiring the city to inform the federal government about illegal immigrants.

JEFFREY: He took the side of illegal immigrants in New York City against the Republican Congress.

KING: Giuliani opposes same-sex marriage but as mayor, he supported civil unions and extending health and other benefits to gay couples. He also supported the assault weapons ban and other gun control measures opposed by the National Rifle Association.

GIULIANI: I'm in favor of gun control. I'm pro-choice.

Republican Big-Wigs Support Pro-Abortion Event in NY

Pro-abortion Governor George Pataki and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who also supports unrestricted abortion, are co-chairs of the 2000 Choice Award Presentation to be held on May 30 at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City. The event is sponsored by the Republican Pro-Choice Coalition, a group that is campaigning for the removal of the pro-life plank from the Republican National Platform.
