his support would be lower amongst independents (young single women especially), higher amongst the base - a wash.
What's the point of Rudy winning? He's a Dem in RINO clothing.
He was a good sheriff for NY. That doesn't translate into being a good President.
And don't think for one moment that once elected, his Dem/RINO positions won't win out over any "promises" made to conservatives.
Rudy has never, ever supported Republican principles. He's like Mike Bloomberg, only Italian and tougher.
If Rudy and Arnold are meeting together, it must be RINO mating season.

He also proposed another sweeping enviromental program to reduce "global warming", another of the schemes to implement an onerous maize of similar "green" regulations.
And the exodus of businesses to more business friendly areas continues along with many of their employees, only to be replaced with multiple cadres of unskilled illegal aliens from south of the border.

many times, during the 2006 election, this issue came up with regards to Chaffee in Rhode Island. countless times, people posted "why should we support chaffee"?
the answer is: electing Chaffee helps keep senators like Coburn, Kyl, Sessions, and McConnell - in the majority. that's why.
that's the nature of politics in a country that is closely divided.

Abortion is NOT a top priority for most American voters.
I think that there is a group here, for who it has suddenly become THE hot button issue, but IF Rudy was THE most rabid anti-abrotion person on the face of the earth, they still would be against him. Some of that has to do with the fact that there are some here who hate everything and anyone who is in anyway connected with N.Y.C.; they also hate/vilify Florida, and California.

If in a year the primaries start up and it truly looks like no other candidate could articulate the conservative message in a way that would resonate with the voters, the question of "electability" might have some merit.
Right now, the goal is to get a good conservative into the "electable" category. Rudy already is way ahead of democrats. We don't need to spend a year building him up. We need to spend a year finding someone who can take his place.
Except for the few people who actually like ALL of Rudy's positions, I don't see why the majority of Rudy supporters can't support pushing conservative candidates out front to see how they do, rather than being so defeatest already to spend their time trying to demoralize the rest of us.
I would note that I spent some time attacking the hunterites who were so completely against Rudy that I thought they were self-destructive. I'm trying to keep options open for the election. But the Rudy people have really pushed me against him with their amorality and pragmatism.
The incoming House chooses the President. The House would vote by state delegation, not as individual members. It would take a majority of the state delegations to elect the President. The incoming Senate chooses the VP, Senators would vote individually. The Electoral Votes are officially counted on by Congress on January 6th, 3 days after the new Congress convenes on January 3rd.
It seems to me it would be the outgoing...since the incoming would not yet be sworn in.
If There's No Electoral College Winner, the House of Representatives Chooses the President.
In the rare event that no presidential candidate receives a majority of the electoral votes, then the President is chosen instead by the House of Representatives, from the top three presidential vote-getters in the Electoral College; each state delegation in Congress casts one vote. (The Vice-President would be chosen from the top two vice-presidential vote-getters by the Senate.)

I'd happily vote for any partisan who is conservative. I won't vote for a partisan who is liberal, be he Republican, Democrat or Independent.
The Democrat Reagan and the Republican Reagan were not that far separated in governing philosophy.

Actually it would be the incoming House. The Electoral Votes are officially counted in front of Congress January 6th, 3 days after the new Congress is sworn in on January 3rd.
