Berkeley, Calif. (AP) -- Democratic presidential contender John Edwards on Sunday called a janitors' campaign for better wages at the University of California, Berkeley, a continuation of the civil rights struggle that began in the 1960s.
Edwards sounded the civil rights theme to commemorate the 42nd anniversary of the clash between black voting rights marchers and police in Alabama known as Bloody Sunday.
"This march for economic and social justice for the men and women who work at this university is a part of a bigger march in America for fairness and equality," Edwards said during a campaign stop on his current tour of U.S. college campuses.
Edwards spoke to a packed ballroom just across the street from UC Berkeley, in keeping with a long-standing boycott of the Berkeley campus by prominent Democrats as a show of solidarity with the janitors' union.

I cannot imagine Edwards as POTUS. Nor, for that matter, can I imagine Hillary or Obama.

I have never heard the term "Bloody Sunday" used to describe the events of the Selma march before today. Today I must have heard it a dozen times.
I always thought Bloody Sunday was a IRA/Brit thing.

Who has the photos of Edward's house?

This should fall under VILLAGE IDIOT alert. Hey John, to pay for these leaches, the tax payers are the ones who pay.
Dear Ambulance chaser--STFU. No wonder you lost NC.

Whatever. I remember seeing a lady on TV that worked as a janitor for GM. She made 60 grand, as a janitor, and the show I was watching made me feel like I was supposed to feel sorry for her.

"Bloody Sunday" was the low point of the 1905 Revolution when hundreds of unarmed demonstrators were cut down by mounted dragoons, in Petrograd, Russia.
The 1965 police action in Selma was violent, but there were no deaths.

Wonder what the landscaping bill was?

So what Edwards is saying is that blacks should be janitors, but well paid janitors. What an ignorant, bigoted, racist piece of garbage. Edwards isn't fit to clean my toilet.

I say let him clean out UC Berkeley! I strongly think UC Berkeley janitors should make $100,000 more more per year. I think that of the TA's, too.
Let Berkeley live up to it's rhetoric.
