Rudy Giuliani's shaky family life is being hit with new tremors, as his son Andrew hit the interview circuit confirming that he is estranged from his father - and that the root of the tension is Giuliani's current wife, Judith.
"There's obviously a little problem that exists between me and his wife," Andrew Giuliani, 21, told The New York Times. "And we're trying to figure that out. But as of right now it's not working as well as we would like."
The comments underscored what friends have whispered and Andrew himself has all but acknowledged for more than a year - that relations with his father have been frosty for some time.
As one confidant told the Daily News last year, "I really believe he loves his father. It's just that right now it's still a little difficult to communicate with him."
Andrew said in an interview to be broadcast today on ABC's "Good Morning America" that he and his father went through "a decent amount of time" when they weren't speaking to one another, but they are now trying to work that out.
"No matter what he's done, I love my father," he said. "It's not as good as it once was - but it's better than it was at its lowest."
Andrew said The Times interview was not an attempt to scuttle his father's pursuit of the Republican nomination for President in 2008, saying, "I do not want to hurt him."
Still, the relationship is icy enough that Andrew told The News he would not be campaigning for his father and would instead chase his goal of becoming a pro golfer.

Reagan's kids (with Nancy) feuded with them in public constantly.
Why didn't Rudy go to his son's graduation? I mean, to listen to the kid, he has real grievances with his dad.
He registered quite a blip. He just didn't bus supporters there to vote.
Didn't Patty Reagan pose nude for some magazine?
Just pointing out that one of FR's greatest heroes had been divorced and had alienated - and embarrassing - children, too.
I did not say this disqualifies him. I said they are saving the real ammo for after the nomination.
Rino Rudy has more baggage then American Tourister(SP?).
IF it comes down to it, I'll vote for Rudy or Romney without hesitation if it means keeping the Witch out of the Oval Office. McCain means I'll have to hold my nose, but he's still better than Her Heinousness...
That may be true but this isn't real ammo - it's something the GOP got past in 1980.
Yea, Patty Davis ranting about her father really hurt him, didn't it?
Do the half of us who stayed married to their original spouse still get to vote?
That's why I didn't call it real ammo. The woodwork is full of that for Rudy, unlike RWR.
Donna Hanover was a local newswoman when she married Rudy. She had delusions that her stature was going to boost her career. When it did not, she became bitter. The last I saw her she was narrating a show about celebrity homes on The Travel Channel. There are always two sides to a story.
Fair enough -= the topic on this thread is Rudy's alienated son. I was just pointing out that this isn't new territory for the GOP, in case any Freeper is mesmerized into believing that it is.
There are things about America's Mayor that I have expressed admiration for.
This is not one of them.
I have deep reservations over an adult who refuse to be The Adult.
Powerplays over acceptance of Ones' Latest Heart throb, especially for someone who is on Wife #3 is not an indication of a magnanimous character.
It also does not speak well for his current wife, who should be encouraging his relationships with his children, and seeking to win them over herself.
Dear ShawTaylor,
Although almost half of marriages end in divorce, a good estimate of how many folks divorce is probably in the range of 25% - 30% of folk who marry at least once.
That's because a large number of the divorces that occur are from folks like Mr. Giuliani, who are little more than serial polygamists. We'll see how long "wife" #3 lasts. Perhaps if Mr. Giuliani is elected president, we'll all be "treated" to an adulterous president who divorces and remarries while in the White House.
But that wasn't the point.
Lots of folks divorce and re-marry. Responsible adults who re-marry understand that, especially in the early years of the new "marriage," some allowance must be made for the feelings of the children damaged and abused by the adults' inability to maintain the marital bond.
This article reports that rather than leave "wifey" #3 home for certain important events in the recent aftermath of Mr. Giuliani's remarriage, that Mr. Giuliani has chosen to absent himself from important events in the lives of his children, including his son's high school graduation.
Perhaps that's a falsehood, and I'm open to hearing that that's not what happened.
But if it did - if Mr. Giuliani missed Andrew Giuliani's high school graduation because the "other woman" wasn't welcome, then Mr. Giuliani is a low-life scum.
