Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards John Edwards' campaign, reacting to derogatory comments by conservative commentator Ann Coulter she called the former North Carolina senator and presidential hopeful a "faggot" is trying to turn it into a rallying point for fundraising, asking supporters to donate $100,000 in "Coulter Cash."
It was unclear from the statement on the Edwards campaign Web site what the money would exactly go to, but it did address the comments directly.

I agree. I'm sure she was asked afterward, I wish she'd simply said, gee, you guys can't take a joke, I was commenting on our climate of political incorectness, not calling Edwards a faggot.
I'm not sure this batters all that much, but to the extent it does, dominating the political news for a couple days, I'm in the apparent minority of Freepers who think it's a negative for Republicans. Ann's not naive, she knows that.
-lighten up already. gees.
Funny picture!
Here's a way to make it funnier. Take your left hand and place it on your screen covering the "4" at about a 45 degree angle to the left! Your ring finger should be next to his head.
I'm laughing so hard right now and will probably be zotted for this, but I don't care!!
This is why Newt's not in yet. He avoids all this crappola.
It was a joke about how going to rehab gets you off for calling someone a faggot.
Sorry, but jokes usually work because they say something that isn't true, to illustrate the truth of what we all know.
But apparently it was too subtle for you. And it didn't mention Israel, so you probably tuned out.
You, like so many of the Coulter bashers on these threads, probably have some other agenda going.
Many of these bashers are incensed that Coulter hasn't backed their candidate. That she has said bad things about Giuliani and ignore Hunter.
In truth, you are probably posting your uninformed venom because she has said kind things about Romney, and you don't trust him being a Mormon and not a Jew or at least a reasonable proximity.
But who cares what your motives are? It adds up to the same thing. You can't figure out an obvious joke. A joke aimed at political correctness.
But you will seize anything to bash somebody who has done more to champion the conservative cause (and ISRAEL) than just about anyone alive.
To hell with you.

Yes, I'm a Jew, and i know that figures large in some peoples thinking. I won't both responding to the rest.
AM----I presume someone will complain. This is FR at it's best, we see it thread after thread. I'll leave the thread for now, it doesn't need pussy Jews on it. And by all means, these comments should STAY UP.
You're right, and if he had any sense he'd bar workers from internet websites if he enters. Stupid Newt is not.
Ann just has to list herself as a comedian or arteest and everything will be fine, because afterall, they have license to talk this way. Correct????
This is an outrageus attempt at furthering the infiltration of American society by perverts.
Homosexuals are disgusting perverts who define themselves by the commission of sick and twisted sexual acts which should STILL be considered criminal and are condemned as an "abomination" by God and as worse things than the simple light pejorative "faggot" by the few clean, wholesome, upstanding members of our society who still stand for truth and morality!
They absolutely do not deserve this kind of promotion by the MSM.
God-fearing, Bible-believing Americans are sick and tired of this promotion of sexual perverts and attempts to even go so far as to criminalize any criticism of them! This article is one step on the slippery slope towards criminalizing Christianty via pro-homosexual hate-speech laws.
Thanks! You're right - with one exception - they're two-faced lying hate filled hypocritical scum.
It's a negative . Certainly can't be a positive. I see even more negatives by the reaction of some to the suggestion it was unnecessary.
From what it sounds like, she didn't call Silky Pony a faggot, but I'm with you. I'd call him one...
I'll give him a dollar.
It's a joke, but it's really a sad commentary on the state of affairs. She is correct in pointing out that in some well-publicized cases, people who have dared to express negative opinions about the perversion of homosexuality have been FORCED to undergo pro-homosexual indoctrination as punishment for expressing opinions that are held by all Americans who hold to biblical standards of morality.
As Christians are commanded to refuse to obey authorities when they command us to sin (for instance, by affirming homosexuality), this conflict is eventually going to lead to all sorts of trouble/conflict if we don't put a halt to this slide towards the criminalization of biblical belief!
Me thinks Edwards might just be hiding in his closet
[and please, don't come out!].
Tight end!
So have any Republican candidates DARED to obey the Dems' brazen request, and distanced themselves from her remarks?
If so that would be very hepful in deciding whom to exclude from further consideration, at least by those of us who care about basic moral and family issues.
