I'm the youngest of four, 12 years between me and my oldest sister. In the late 50s and early 60s we made several long drives to see relatives in either Mississippi and Wyoming from our home in New York. We played the "license plate game" and many others, but the big one was the alphabet game, where we looked for the letters of the alphabet starting words on signs. My brother, the second oldest, and I and my two sisters would form teams, usually boys against girls. One team would go from A to z and the other team would go the other direction.

I will always remember, my brother and I were trying to find a Z to win the game, but we were about to leave a small town and knew we were going to be without many chances for that, while the girls only had to find C, B then A. The last sign in this little town was for Zilche's Garage. I was probably seven or so, which would have made it 1962.

I also remember being put to bed for a nap on the package tray area behind the rear seats under the rear window (in a sedan, not a wagon). Today my parents would be arrested for having put a child up there.

Notice the flurry of positive media coverage of McCain in the last few days? Running scared imo.

Yea .. seems the new talking point is his age and health

Chris Matthews and Russert brought it up

osamaObama's early rise forced hitlery to declare early. She has gotten all the attention and it's been nothing but one foulup after the other for her.

That weird comment about dealing with bad men......her fight with Geffen......her appearance on CNBC where the financial analyst handed her her head......she's shrill, uninformation, and frankly, ignorant.

That is an excellent point. Bill Clinton could not have won the White House without a third party candidate taking votes away from the Republican. Not sure Obama is strong enough to win either. But, maybe Obama may be forced to be included on a Democrat Ticket as Vice President which would maybe help the Democrats. It is getting interesting everyday!

I'm glad you are back and posting today. I've missed your insight the past few weeks. There is just too much going on every day that many of us in fly over country miss by not being closer to the action.

I used to do with different countries number plates in Britain there are often a lot of foreign cars in the South East in June/July/August and early September. So it was fun spotting what countries they came from.

Even to today this is a help to me at work. Because a lot of countries use the prefix in their zip(post) code or VAT (tax) number as their country code so I immediately know that company with CH is in Switzerland or SF is in Finland, it again amazes me that people in a higher position at work have no idea of this.

Hillary has lots of money and the media knows she will spend the money on political advertisements. She will also help the Republicans to raise lots of money to work against her. So her mis-steps are something the media can count on for a Hillary story. I think Gore wants to jump in, but still has ties to the Clintons. If Hillary would have big troubles such as the tax issues, it may force her out of the race. Gore would be more difficult for a Republican to beat.

Woofie has Mary Snow in Selma reporting on the 2 Black churches participants. She says that some blacks say they are torn by having 2 candidates but that it is "good to have a choice". HA

Agreed, but I won't hold my breath. The sad aspect of Russert and the other leftists is their hearing only what they want to hear and ignoring the truth they don't want to accept.

Also re the Brian Williams trip to Iraq...

Anybody want to start a pool on the total distance he actually gets outside of the Green Zone?

.....or a sub pool on the total distance he actually gets outside of their studio or his hotel room?

(I won't bother to question if he actually sets foot in Iraq, but with all this buildup and the history we've got already on the networks' casual attitude about the truth, it wouldn't surprise anyone if the only place Williams actually travels to is some soundstage in LA.)

Ever the copy cat, Hillary followed Obama's lead to Selma. He's half black, half white, so what does she do? White Hillary brings along her "Black" husband. LOL

fix Walter Reed

I thought that Walter Reed is scheduled to close soon and move its facilities a few miles to the grounds of the Naval Hospital.

I am not sure if the problems are in the main hospital itself or only (though they shoulc not exist anywhere) in a building used for housing military who are receiving outpatient services. Can someone help me clarify this?

I have a problem with the holier-than-thou Wash Post who investigated the problem almost a year ago, but did not expose the problem for so long. Why didn't they care enough to get help right away?

Oh...yes!

The same thing happened in 2004...jon carry had the audacity to go to Florida and campaign in "black churches"...and got away with it.

But, what we hear from the left is that Bush is taking his order from God to run a holy war....blah, blah...

I just saw a clip of Obama in that church saying that he "has come home"!!!! LOL

He was never raised in the south...but boy did he start talking like it...his whole "accent' changed during that speech....blech
