To: rightwingintelligentsia

This entire article is designed to inflict as much damage on the U.S. as possible:

1) The headline implies that the 16 dead were Americans, so if that's all you read that's the impression you'll have.

2) "shot by U.S. forces fleeing the scene." Trying to imply that our soldiers are cowards who run away from battle.

3) "Hundreds of Afghans gathered to protest the violence...shouting "Death to America!". Yeah, hundreds who just happen to be in the area of an ambush. Is the AP reporter too stupid to figure out this was part of the setup, part of the ambush, designed for the exact response it got from the AP?

When I first spotted the original headline (I see the Moderator has modified it here) on the article's original source, that's exactly what I thought, and my heart sank. The headline also didn't note that this took place in Afghanistan, so the average headline scanner might also assume it happened in Iraq.
