I once read that about 1/3 of American POWs died in Japanese captivity, while only about 3% captured by the Germans did.

FYI, a greater percentage of Americans in Chinese captivity died during the Korean War than did GI's captured by the Japanese during WWII. A sobering statistic.

Are you Taiwanese?

In World War 2, the United States' big fight was with the Nazis, although the Japanese were the ones who attacked Pearl Harbor. Most Japanese atrocities were against Asians, not American citizens (Filipinos, Guam(ese?), and Northern Marianans were American nationals). The number of people murdered (not just killed) by the Japanese in World War 2 was greater than the number of American soldiers killed by Chinese in the Korean War.

I am sure that many lost POWs of "The Forgotten War" suffered unspeakably and horribly. It is very sobering to think about how much so many have suffered to keep us free, and how so many of us (US citizens) are such ingrates. God help us.
