McCain-hating and Romney-bashing have been pretty much equal-opportunity pastimes around CPAC this year.
Rudy, on the other hand, has gotten mostly a free pass. And, today, his speech was filled to capacity with folks waiting in the hallway to get in. There were also dense crowds around all the TVs in the exhibit halls. The charm offensive is strong, indeed. People just love listening to him.
I took some video of conservatives quite mesmerized by the Mayor, so I'm working on getting that up. They were doing crowd control outside the hall in which he was speaking. Many of those folks crowding the hall are pro-life, social conservatives who just can't resist him, despite the policy differences. I don't think Rudy will remain unattacked, as he was this week, but the feel-good factor is big for him, no matter what kind of conservative he's talking to.
Today, he talked about leadership, security, toughness, and Reagan to a crowd who's looking for a leader in the image of Reagan in a time that needs security. It was a good pitch, and there were more people listening than have listened to anything at CPAC this week.

Projecting? Certainly not. You most certainly do sound like a fascist.
Way funny. I clearly refuted your lies that Hunter and Rudy share the same position on abortion. But declare victory and run and have your victory laps all the while calling others names.
"You most certainly do sound like a fascist."
Rudy supporters do understand fascism. Yep.
Too funny. Sorry Blackirish, but your delusional self-congratulations mean nothing. Except of course in your own mind.
I don't know whose assessment that is, but I doubt that it's Guiliani's. How about providing a link to that statement?
That was from his team's assessment of his weaknesses. The one that was "leaked". If I find the article, I'll link to it.
So do narrow-minded idividuals who believe that only their way is the right way, and who have appointed themselves the arbiter of all things good, pure and American. And does so secure in the anti-intellectual belief that God is on their side (that was sarcasm -- I felt compelled to point it out to you because you've only missed it's particular odor every other time it's been used).
For the record, I have only stated a miilion times in these posts that if I had my druthers I would have Newt on the top of the ticket. But of course, you never asked, you just assumed I would reflexively pull the lever for Rudy because I have come to his defense in the interests of fairness. Fairness and honesty seem to have gone by the wayside (along with pragmatism) on these boards because they are invariably started and/or hijacked by the Perpetually-Panty-Bunched crowd, most of whom haven't a thought in their head that didn't originate in Scripture or from their extremely prejudiced and skewed view of factual American history.
And yes, you are operating exactly as a fascist would: you have highlighted the negative (with emphasis on your view of what is negative) with regards to your perceived enemies, hammered at it ad nauseum, and refuse to let something as dangerous as intellectual honesty get injected into the debate.
Perhaps we'd be betetr off if people like you actually did stay home on Election Day, 2008, like most of you threaten to do.
BTTT! Thanks for the ping, Carlo.
You must have missed the march of the Terri-bots. That got pretty nasty.
Not to mention how who you pretend to be the spokeswoman for the Holy Roman Catholic Church
"delusional self-congratulations mean nothing."
A lot of us have noticed that, carlo, and it's turning people off to the worthy social agenda. I'm glad you're watching.
Now there's a comeback. Sounds familiar, though. Where have I heard that before? Hmmmm
Wait. Don't tell me. Right on the tip of my tongue.
You may like him for many reasons, but he IS a GUN GRABBER. He grabbed two of my legal weapons, and if you were in NYC in '99 and had carries for your pistols, you would be singing a different tune now.
Thanks for the ping Carlo. Rudy may not be my frst choice, but name recognition is paramount in a presidential race. We can only wait a see who will actually be the nominee.
"Mesmerize" is roughly synonymous with "hypnotize." Hypnotized, or not really in command of all one's mental powers, such as reason, discretion, and conscience, aptly describes anyone who claims to be conservative, yet backs Rudy.
Do we want the Republican nomination decided by people who are in a trance? Snap out of it, people!
Pharmboy, you have never stated the SPECIFIC REASON WHY YOUR PERMITS WERE REVOKED (to the best of my knowledge. And even when Narses uses you as an example, the why's and wherefores are curiously never mentioned). You just cry that they were, but never explain WHY. I find it difficult to believe that they wouldn't tell you why, either. There must have been SOMETHING (other than there is a percieved evil conspiracy aimed directly at you, intended to leave you defenseless in the face of the Blood-sucking Fed'ral Leviathan with their black helicopters and jack-booted stormtroopers)that prompted such action.
Come clean: you spelled your name wrong on the renewal form, didn't you?
Did he multiply loaves and fishes too?
""Mesmerize" is roughly synonymous with "hypnotize."
It's also synonomous with Enraptured. Which is also synonomous with a religiously-induced state or a belief in the exclusivity of a particular sect.
"Do we want the Republican nomination decided by people who are in a (religiously-induced) trance?"
You wake up first, and get a better thesaurus.
