Earth's Crust Missing In Mid-Atlantic
"Scientists have discovered a large area thousands of square kilometers in extent in the middle of the Atlantic where the Earths crust appears to be missing. Instead, the mantle - the deep interior of the Earth, normally covered by crust many kilometers thick - is exposed on the seafloor, 3000m below the surface."

Could the event that caused this huge section of crust to go missing have been responsible for the change in thermohaline circulation that occurred at the end of the period known as the "Younger Dryas" in which the temperature in Greenland rose 10 degrees in a decade. (Remember there was no industrial pollution at the time)LOL

The crust is missing???? Oh, Dear!
WELLLLL!
Make HARXIST, Soros, Puhlousey and Scuba Teddy to put it back!
[singing] Kaboom-kaboom, ya-dadadadada-ya-dadadadada...
The usual view (someone expressed it above) is that seafloor spreading is the cause -- one problem being, there should be millions of years of sediment on top of this "new" material.
I don't subscribe to that view. ;')
We're Doomed!
Glitches In The Terrestrial Conveyor Belt..."According to the simple plate-tectonic theory, the age of oceanic lithosphere is zero at a spreading oceanic ridge and increases with distance from the ridge. Thus the lithosphere of the central Atlantic, which current palaeogeographical reconstructions assure us began to open no earlier than 120 million years ago, has zero age at the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and, supposedly an age of about 120 million years close to the land masses of Africa and South America at the appropriate latitude. Yet, Bonatti and others (Nature, v. 380, p. 518, 1996) have now recovered samples of 140-million-year-old pelagic limestones not even from the edges of the Atlantic but right in the middle of the ocean, close to the ridge. How can this be possible?"...

You mean all the arrogant pontificaters are again proving that man doesn't know as much as he thinks he does?
LOL.

"Save The Crust!!"
I do. I give it to our dogs.
Crap.
We are doomed and it is my day off.
At least I don't have to clean the garage.
The news is that the crust is missing and the mantle is exposed. This wasn't known previously though it had been speculated that this might be the case.
This would never have happened if the election hadn't been stolen!
Anna whatshername was the last straw. I cancelled my cable, so I don't know anything anymore. It's great!
Well in that case these scientists had better be careful as we know some fans react violently to these sorts of breakups. Especially if any of them are nicknamed 'Dimebag'.
Actually I was thinking of Pangaea, the group the Dixie Chicks will turn into when they get slightly older and uglier and come out as Lesbians.
I think I'll stop now before I'm banned for thread pollution.
Thanks for the clarification...
I proud to announce that I am now selling Earth Crust Offset Credits at a price that is cutting my own throat.
thanks, saved.
great. Now I'm hungry.
