Keeping tabs on New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson as he seeks the Democratic nomination for president ...

# FROSTY WELCOME: Richardson arrived in snow-blown Iowa on Friday for his first foray as a Democratic presidential candidate and told the Des Moines Register his trip was "a little dicey. Like, zero visibility and 40 mile-per-hour winds."— L.L.

# ALL SMILES: A new Time Magazine column entitled "Why Republicans are Smiling" says the GOP has several things to cheer about these days— one of them being the field of 2008 Democratic presidential contenders. The column by conservative William Kristol said Hillary Clinton looks beatable, that Republicans have a hard time believing Barack Obama will become president and that Richardson "looks unlikely to make it into the top tier."— J.J.

# DRUMBEAT: Richardson's pledge to create a Department of Indian Affairs and appoint a Native American to head it got posted on Powwows.com, a popular site for powwow singers and dancers.— L.L.

# LIKELY TO WIN: A new Gallup poll asked Americans to handicap the 2008 presidential race. Hillary Clinton edged out Barack Obama on the Democratic side and Rudy Guiliani edged out John McCain on the Republican side of the fence. Richardson's numbers: 19 percent said he had an excellent or good chance of being elected president, 51 said he had a slim chance, and 20 percent said he had none. Ten percent had no opinion.— L.L.

To those with questions:

I'm tracking Richardson here in NM when I have the time. Exposing him for the Clinton clone that he is. The newspapers here put up gossip about him a couple of times a week, some puff, some serious, some that tracks what others are saying. This is valuable to have ready as reference down the road. If I don't have time to do it during the week, I put them together and post on the weekend. They are all referenced by keyword RichardsonWatch.
