The fact is, you haven't been taking cheap pot shots at Reagan on this thread. I do appreciate you defending Reagan on this thread from defamatory accusations. Keep your eyes open, it happens quite often.

I figure, anyone who chooses to run around Free Republic bashing Reagan and undermining his legacy with falsehoods, is not someone I view as a conservative ally in the fight against liberalism.

I have been down that bumpy road before enough times to know that liberal RINOs lose at the national level and conservative Republicans win

I suppose your words are comforting to George Allen, Rick Santorum, Jim Talent, JD. Heyworth, et al.

Forgive me if I've found your words to be cant, I've been here longer than you and I don't remember you either.

The worst mistake the GOP could make is to run a liberal republican up against a conservative talking democrat.

You've said this and variations on this dozens of times on these threads. I do remember the funny flashbunny, but not sure what happened to him.

2 cant Pronunciation (knt) n.

1. Monotonous talk filled with platitudes.
2. Hypocritically pious language.

Perhaps you'd like to give us some evidence to support your position; I'll get up in a few hours and get preached to then.

Thanks, I'm not sure it will change any minds, but it may cool off the rhetoric.

A lot of people are snowed in all over the Midwest and East Coast--I think once the baseball season starts all will be right in the world and even in our crabby corner of the internet.

we SHOULD be directing our guns at the other side and not at someone who is running as a Republican AND does stand for many of our principals albeit not ALL of them

Please tell us what conservative principles or positions Rudy stands for or holds other than WOT issues. I will grant that there probably are a few, but I can't think of any offhand.

I know that many of his FR droids would say that law and order issues are proof of his conservatism, but the same could have been said of Hitler or Mussolini in the mid-1930s. A true conservative law enforcement official respects the US Constitution and the BOR amendments that guarantees the people that their inherent rights will not be violated in the name of law and order. Rudy's authoritarian enforcement policies and tactics may have brought some degree of law and order to NYC, but in the process many law abiding Americans were deprived of rights which the Bill of Rights was written to protect. Sacrificing constitutional rights in the name of enforcing the law isn't usually a big deal to people who are not affected by it or actually seem to benefit from it. But that sacrifice is never beneficial to the overall health of our liberties and our civil rights, and in many instances proves to be less than successful or even counterproductive to it's intended purpose in the long run.

Dang, flashbunny. I missed that one. So, I will just work harder and make more money, upping my contribution. Would love to see FR become a conservative site again.

The RINO apologists are what I call "energy thieves." They drain our spirit and demoralize the conservative cause. Plenty of other forums exist for them on the internet.

IF for some awful reason a Dem is elected POTUS, it would be necesssary for the GOP to control at least one side of Congress...or this country will be the hands of our enemies soon.

As far as Congress and much of the judiciary branch is concerned the country is in the hands of it's enemies right now.

I won't willingly consent to allowing a faux Christian liberal like Giuliani to make it a clean sweep of all three branches by voting to install him at the top of the Executive branch. Of course my family only has 6 votes to spend, but those 6 votes will not go toward bringing the nation a long step closer to becoming an immoral, anti-life, pro-sexual deviancy, open-borders, authoritarian, liberal "paradise" closely resembling most west European states.

You are clear thinking and level headed, and as I see it, those of us who see the upcoming GOP apocalypse can only make our points as decently and reasonably as possible. Sometimes the condescension and overbearing nature of the Rudy folks can make us retaliate. I've gotten ticked off a couple of times.

But when I can, I'm trying to engage them. We old timers have watched the party do stupid things again and again. This one will make the Dole nomination look successful. There is no way a conservative party can trust a fellow who is feckless towards his own wife, has opposing views on major issues, and says "Trust me" on judicial nominations, after nominating Democrats during his tenure in NY. But talking to the Rudy people is like telling a kid there's no Santa Claus.

This is a bald headed guy who speaks with a lisp and has every MSM outlet telling us he's invincible. They told us Dole was electable too. The car is headed for the cliff. A divided party cannot reach out to much of anything, and you can bet the Democrats would NEVER nominate somebody who was seventy percent with us. What a deal this is for them. They get their way no matter who wins.

It's absolute foolishness to run a race between two parties believing the exact same thing on a majority of issues.. But then, it won't be the first time, nor the last. As soon as Rudy loses, they'll blame us again and want to move back to the middle for another beating.

You guys sure know how to bait a lady. ;)

Who wouldn't much rather have Rudy's gams in his face for 4 or 8 years than hillary clinton's... uh... legs... or even more threatening to the cultural aesthetic... HER JACKBOOT.

Let us not forget that Rudy used those shapely legs (legs that can produce a kick that rivals the best of the Rockettes') to give the boot to Arafat and that smarmy Saudi prince and his blood-money.

Of all the candidates--of all the candidates who can win--no one will be tougher on the terrorists than Rudy Giuliani. And that is the crucial... the seminal... perhaps the only... criterion that will matter in the end....
