FreeRepublic Policy Statement
FrreRepublic ^ | Unknown | Jim Robinson

Posted on 03/03/2007 5:38:03 PM PST by ZULU

"Therefore, we wholeheartedly support the Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive strikes on known terrorist states and organizations that are believed to present a clear threat to our freedom or national security. We support our military, our troops and our Commander-in-Chief and we oppose turning control of our government back over to the liberals and socialists who favor appeasement, weakness, and subserviency. We do not believe in surrendering to the terrorists as France, Germany, Russia and Spain have done and as Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton and the Democrats, et al, are proposing.

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty. "

"Somehow that reminds me of Uncle Duke and gonzo politics. I like it though."

Fred Thompson is fairly solid on conservative issues, is a great speaker, and has star power. Teamed with Hunter they would be hard to beat for anyone.

Oh, one other thing.

Reagan did bomb the Hell out of Lebanon. He was also limted by the fact that Carter had pulled the plug on military spending. I was a civilian working for the Air Force at the time and was constantly purchasing W.R.M. (War Readiness Material). WRM material is a commodity or supply that is necessary to meet the minimum requirements for national defense. Carter left us with so little that until he left office we could not have met our military requirements for supplies (and aircraft parts) in case of war. Yeah, it was that bad.

I also agree we need to look to the future, but we also need a candidate with a philosophy. Reagan knew what he believed and why he believed it. I'm hoping one of these Republican candidates will show me that. Of course, Dems can't do that. Their heads would explode.

Good evening.
"Teamed with Hunter they would be hard to beat for anyone."

I know. I agree. It's just that Hunter/Thompson reminds me of the late drugged out journalist, Hunter S. Thompson.

I think I'm getting a little gonzo myself so I think I'll say good night.

Yeah, but the guy who invented the "Gonzo" phrase committed suicide. Bad karma on the tag line.

And Hunter Thompson was a left-wing crackpot who committed suicide due to grief that Bush won.

Ted Nugent uses the "Gonzo" phrase all the time.

If you were an embryo these hypocrites would be tripping over themselves to save you. As an adult they could give a damn about you. They attacked you personally and branded you a troll because you didn't believe what they believe or fit their narrow minded world view. I noticed that you didn't respond personally and handled things with good humor. Good for you on that.

Keep fighting for what you believe. All the best to you going forward.

Umm, I hate to break this too you, but the troll was banned an hour or so ago. Maybe you can forward your message to him/her over on the DU site.

By the way, he called FR a fascist site on another thread earlier. Not so nice.

LOL....great visual...Hillary and Obama with their heads exploding!!

I agree with all you said...I just fear that with everyone using Reagan as the "model" for who they want...they will be so disappointed..because even the real Reagan couldn't live up to some expectations.

And..we can beat all of our candidates up so much that no one will be able to beat the dem candidate.

That leaves the Republican Party. It IS called the Republican Party...not the Conservative Party.

Then go find a republican party sand box to play in a-hole! This is a conservative forum. Not a Republican forum.

We've been here before, I think.

>>>>I voted for Reagan....I liked Reagan...

From your posts, you'll understand why I don't believe you.

>>>>>All I am saying is...REAGAN would be bashed if he was running now..

You're doing a good job bashing Reagan and he isn't running. I knew I had you pegged right. Employing 20/20 hindsight to take cheap pot shots at a great POTUS, and in the process attempt to revise history are the acts of a scoundrel. Reagan was not perfect, no human being is. Just for the record, Reagan never raised federal income taxes and he didn't run from Lebanon either.

>>>>As far as getting rid of Communism and tearing down the wall??? I think that Putin would disagree that there is no wall.

This is a convoluted paragraph. Care to decipher its meaning for us.

The bottom line is this. Reagan came closer to Free Republic`s bedrock conservative policies then Giuliani, Romney, McCain and Gingrich. But this debate isn't really about Reagan. Its about whether Republicans will choose a moderate, a centrist or a liberal to be the party standard bearer in 2008. Or will the GOP come to its senses and go for a conservative candidate that FReepers can unite behind and be proud to support.
