Al Gore defends his extraordinary personal energy usage by telling critics he maintains a "carbon neutral" lifestyle by buying "carbon offsets," but the company that receives his payments turns out to be partly owned and chaired by the former vice president himself.
Gore has built a "green money-making machine capable of eventually generating billions of dollars for investors, including himself, but he set it up so that the average Joe can't afford to play on Gore's terms," writes blogger Dan Riehl.
Gore has described the lifestyle he and his wife Tipper live as "carbon neutral," meaning he tries to offset any energy usage, including plane flights and car trips, by "purchasing verifiable reductions in CO2 elsewhere."
But it turns out he pays for his extra-large carbon footprint through Generation Investment Management, a London-based company with offices in Washington, D.C., for which he serves as chairman. The company was established to take financial advantage of new technologies and solutions related to combating "global warming," reports blogger Bill Hobbs.

Generation Investment Management's U.S. branch is headed by a former Gore staffer and fund-raiser, Peter S. Knight, who once was the target of probes by the Federal Election Commission and the Department of Justice.
Hobbs points out Gore stands to make a lot of money from his promotion of the alleged "global warming" threat, which is disputed by many mainstream scientists.
"In other words, he 'buys' his 'carbon offsets' from himself, through a transaction designed to boost his own investments and return a profit to himself," Hobbs writes. "To be blunt, Gore doesn't buy 'carbon offsets' through Generation Investment Management – he buys stocks."
As WND reported, Gore, whose film warning of a coming cataclysm due to man-made "global warming" won two Oscars, has a mansion in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville that consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, citing data from the Nashville Electric Service.
The think tanks says since the release of Gore's film, the former presidential candidate's energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kilowatt-hours per month in 2005, to 18,400 per month in 2006.
Not only is Gore a hypocrite but also a liar and a phony.
I HEARD I think it was on Rush..not sure...that it is either his own company or some friends...
IOW...somehow, some way...GORE is going to be the beneficiary of the money.
If you want to know the actual nuts and bolts..I have no clue.
But, I have to admit that this whole global warming thing bores me to death. If a talk show host starts talking about it ...I tune out...because I don't believe in it.
I also resent that Gore and Hollywood are making money for fraud.
IF, IF Gore really, truly believed it..and it isn't a scam....then he would have changed his lifestyle..and I think this carbon offsets or carbon credits crapola is just a way to appease his "critics"...but, keep on living his life the way he wants to...
And, making MONEY doing it.
Now...if I am correct...it could be a catch-22 for him...because all of this has made him so popular with the "in" crowd...that they are all begging him to run for POTUS again.
However, if I am correct...and he DOES run...you can count on either the dems or the GOP exposing this scam for what it is...
Mo1---seriously, if you can explain to me in terms my pea-brain can understand, why I should believe in global warming..and also explain to me what a carbon offset or carbon credit really IS, I would appreciate it.

He appointed his cronies John Hayes and Craven Crowell to the governing board of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and used them to hand out financial favors. That’s right. TVA has the 3rd worst record for power plant CO2 emissions in the US, emitting over 103 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere (NRDC April 2006 Report, Benchmarking Air Emissions). The oil companies that Al smears and attacks for contributing to global warming don’t even come close to the deplorable record of Al Gore’s buddies at TVA.

True carbon credits are those that make a difference. You need to track the sellers and buyers.
My proposal is to track aborted babies. These unfortunates will never be able to exercise their basic rights to carbon usage, thus the sale of their credits are the most valuable. Each aborted child represents a lifetime of carbon credits...available for purchase.
For those that love abortions, this is the ultimate...less babies and more carbon credits. Everyone can get into the act...parents, abortionists, Planned Parenthood, ACLU. They can all split the credits...keep some, sell some. This is true perpetual motion! The more babies aborted, the more carbon credits produced.
While we are at it, lets get PETA on board...cows produce lots of greenhouse gases. However, the production (and consumption) of veal cuts those emissions to a fraction. "Veal...the carbon credit white meat".

On the contrary, the man is completely sane.
He has jumped on the Global Warming hysteria bandwagon and created a market for tax exempt company that he founded and is playing everyone for fools, especially the Hollywood elite, while lining his pockets.
Let's face it, the guy just out-scammed the clintons! and that takes some doing.
