What if it's Newt in the general? Would you support him?

You essentially called Jay Sekulow a traitor. How can you not think that's over the line?

That's not really an answer. I'm trying to gauge what you consider acceptable as a conservative. I don't agree with Newt on everything but I could vote for him.

Would you go third party if it were Newt? I know I will if it's McCain or Rudy. I'm still up in the air regarding Romney.

Anyone who would support a governor on whose watch gay marriage, a ban on "assault weapons," and a disaster of a socialized medicine scheme were all implemented has turned traitor on the conservative movement, yes.

Romney appointed radical gay activists to positions in his administration and even to the bench. They filled state government and the public schools with gay propaganda.

Are you aware that Romney appointed more Democrats than Republicans to the bench?

You know, the guy who used his executive authority to implement gay marriage in Massachusetts

This is a complete misrepresentation of what happened and you know it.

If you have to argue your points will lies and misrepresentations than I will leave you to it.

Guiliani blew him out of the park!

Not according to the people who were actually there.

Giuliani, McCain or Romney will prevent me from supporting the GOP nominee. No doubt about it.

Newt might keep me in, maybe, but I don't like him and don't trust him. He's weak on abortion, borders and tax reform, three very important issues to me. He likes to put forth Democrat Lite proposals that sound intellectual but don't really mean much. Pap. I heard him last summer, live at the Iowa State Fair, talking about global warming, and he was talking like he definitely believed in it. And last but not least, he's putty in the hands of liberals. He feels inferior and they push him around at will. A disaster as a leader.

Read the materials at these two sites in detail, then you and I can have an informed discussion of these matters:

Gay marriage... not really sure I can blame Romney for that one.

Assault weapons ban... very problematic.

Socialized medicine... dumb plan but doesn't really qualify as socialist in the same sense of Hillary Care.

Your last points are definitely problematic with me.

I still don't believe people like Sekulow are traitors. I believe many of them accept Romney's rhetoric and positions now and the fact that he has "repented" of past policy stances. If he is going to continue to campaign as "right wing" as he has been, it will be very difficult for him to change course after he is elected. So for many, he is a lesser evil than Rudy or McCain.

Don't think I don't see your point. Believe me, I'm hardly there in Romney's corner myself. But I can understand, at least pragmatically, how some are coming to that conclusion.

That is why I asked you about Newt. Could you pragmatically support him? Or are you a purist that won't vote for anyone to the left of Howard Phillips?

Jay Sekulow is a judicial supremacist...

How about you stop cutting everybody and everything down and tell us what you stand for? You obviously have ulterior motives on this board, have some courage and be open about them.

You have an awful lot about God on your page but your actions conflict with that.

I've read some things in the past and will look at the links. Thanks. I've also found Newt to be wishy-washy at times but I also believe he is stronger and further to the right than our current CiC.

I supported Bush in '00 and '04. That's as far as I'll go. Having said that, I think we can do a lot better.

My actions don't conflict with that at all. This is a conservative board. I support conservatives and conservative principles, and oppose liberalism, no matter what letter might be behind its name, with all my might. You have a problem with that?

Fair enough. The point is we're not going to get an Alan Keyes (whom I like though many on this site seem to detest) or any one like him. That's reality. I could live with a Newt or someone like him as long as we don't lose on the border issue. As of now, that is the most important issue facing this nation.
