Not sure, but I remember him being a social conservative and no-nonsense guy.

Just last night I was wondering why he wasn't considering running. It was Howlin's tagline that made me think of him again.

Several of we Tennesseans would like to see Fred Thompson run. He is a conservative and a man of principle.

I am sure many freepers will find fault with him. He was single during most of his political career and a somewhat of a ladies man. I (being a lady) have no trouble with that, at least he wasn't waving cigars at young interns while he was married and wagging his finger at the lowly American people saying he didn't.

I fear, from reading FR lately, that Jesus wouldn't be good enough for some on here. But Fred Thompson is a good man, so good he became too disgusted with the Washington D.C. BS and stepped away. That combined with the tragic loss of a young daughter.

I worked to get him elected to the Senate, and am pleased with his performance there. I was in close contact with him during the Clinton impeachment hearing. He's a good man, and I'd feel very comfortable with a man of his character in that cesspool D.C. right now.
