I have lurked on this site since 1996 and posted occasionally on various topics that I feel strongly on. I am a born-again Christian that is adamantly opposed to abortion and believe strongly in pro-gun rights. I voted for Ronald Reagan twice, for George H.W. Bush twice and George W Bush twice. However, this will probably be my last post.
Horror of horrors - I am a Rudy fan. There, I've said it.
I can't believe the hostility and moral superiority being thrown at Giuliani supporters. I resent being labeled a liberal because I like a man who may not fit 100% into the preordained "Conservative" box.
It is my understanding that Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush and Laura Bush were all secretly (or not) supportive of abortion rights. Its entirely possible that their husbands may have run on a pro-life platform because that's what their constituancy wanted and not because of what they truly believed. Whether or not they were really pro-life is moot because none of them did anything toward reversing Roe vs Wade while in office anyway. As a previous poster noted, Ronald Reagan supported the Brady Bill. Ronald Reagan is clearly the best president in my lifetime and, although saying that he had imperfections will surely cause some of the more rabid Conserva-nazis on this site to have the vapors - Reagan was not perfect.

We need a strong president that is not afraid to take on the press, the Euro-wussies and the Islamic Radicals. I believe Rudy is that person. If you don't like him, then fine; support your candidate of choice. The hysterical moral chest-beating on this site has become unbearable - and it seems to be coming from a "select" group of about 15 serial posters. The ugly attacks are pathetic. Have a nice next two years with your tunnel vision attitude.

Well said, and I hope you stick around, although I'm not ready to call myself a Rudy fan (and never will on some issues, like Gore-bal warming, immigration, abortion and guns).

I can completely understand where you are coming from; I encourage you not to leave for good, just do as many have done and take a break from this place. We need sane voices.

Conservatives are NOT all cut from the same fabric; that's what makes us different from liberals.

I wish I could say "don't leave, they will win," but I honestly believe they have already run, just from the fact of how many have left.

This has turned into an anti-GOP site, which is insane because they NEED to GOP to further their goals.

We have to fight for this site as long as we can stand it. Or until we're all deemed unworthy and banned.

Just don't go too far.

I put more trust in a person whose imperfections I can see, than in one trying to convince me that they have none.

Times change, evolve and come or go... We also fit into that scheme. My guess is that there will changes occuring to this forum whether good or bad as a result of this election. The same occurred back in 99-00 when the then Gov. of Texas was seeking the nomination and later on as the candidate. He was routinely blasted and called names like :

Cokehead

Stupid

Dumb

Draft Dodger

Pawn of the CFR, NWO, or some other nefarious group

Drunk

etc, etc, etc

Good luck in your endeavors, keep up the good fight because this election may allow the democrats to control the congress and the white house simultaneously. That I have to believe will be much worse than the election of any one of the candidates attempting to secure the GOP nomination.

Take care.

Excellent post. About sums up my position on Rudy.

2008 is about three things-- the War on Terror, maintaining a pro-growth economic system, and nominating Constitutionalists to the Supreme Court. The Dem nominee will not do any of these things. Rudy will do all three.
