I agree. It's clear that adherence to conservative principles is somehow considered worthy of disdain by some here. It's puzzling at best.

Well, they're all spinning to SOME degree, but I detect less of it in Rudy (among those 3) and none in Hunter.

Basically I'm watching over the next 6-12 months to see how the herd thins. Too soon to decide, yet, that "only Rudy can win." Barring some shocker, I will vote for the party nominee.

Thank you for telling me that I'm free to disagree with him. It's very comforting to know that I have your permission. If you want someone to show respect, please talk it over with your friend Spiff and have him modify his ridiculous behavior in this thread.

You don't have to agree with a person to show them respect, something that Spiff has earned as a ten-year veteran of FR.

Well, you have a point. National security (closing the border, the WOT - wherever it may take us) is my biggest issue right now too.

EVERYTHING else is far down the list.

Same here.

As a Duncan Hunter supporter, I can honestly say that you single handedly have galvanised support for Rudy more than anyone else on this thread. Maybe that's your plan all along. It's the ol' good-cop, bad-cop routine.

Wow, I think I'll link your post on the FR CPAC thread and see what the people there think.

Go for it. I've already talked to a number of people who are present.

You're willing to trash anybody and everybody, aren't you?

No. Just liberals and their willing stooges.

Fact is, it's you and your friends who are single-issue voters.

Fact is, your priorities are screwed up. My top priority is national security. You seem wound up on abortion. If we're all killed by the Islamofascists, your top priority won't matter as much as mine.

I am hoping for a more conservative candidate (as to the issues I mentioned, anyway) who retains Giuliani's speaking ability and other qualities.

If you know anyone who fits the bill, let us know. If there isn't anyone out there who is known, than it is too late for an unknown to come out of nowhere and win primaries less than a year from now.

If Rudy were to win, then he'd damn well follow through on his promise to pick Scalia and Alito types.

You and me both. In fact, anyone who doesn't agree with that IMHO is not a conservative. I don't see how anyone could consider themselves conservative if they favor activist Justices who use the Constitution for tinder and quote Eurocourts. Defending the Constitution is -- again IMHO -- the most important issue, as that document and what it represents is the foundation of our great country.

Nothing ridiculous about it. Free Republic has had a long-standing tradition of doing a play-by-play of various speeches and events that we're watching together. When we watch a liberal get up and speak, we tear them apart, exposing their inconsistancies and lies. That's exactly what I was doing whether you agree with what I said or how I said it.

If you don't like conservatives dissecting what a liberal is saying, pointing out the liberal's inconsistancies and lies, then maybe you're on the wrong website.

Tell it to the four thousand dead babies who were killed today by Rooty's close friends and supporters at Margaret Sanger-founded Planned Barrenhood.

What? You can't tell them? Oh yeah. They're dead.

Now you're saying that the people at CPAC are liberals?

You're a real piece of work; thankfully you have no credibility anywhere anymore.

I've already stated that FR will probably become even more conservative than it already is, through attrition if nothing else. Besides continuing to champion the defense of America, FR just might become the "Conservative Conscience of the Republican Party," ie, we may become a real thorn in the side of moderate/liberal Republicanism. Someone has to try defend the party from completely tossing out traditional American conservatism. Might as well be us.

McCAin Feingold is within the Constitutionally specified powers of Congress to regulate federal election. It took NO ONE'S right to free speech away

Yeah, sure. Ignore that leettle "Congress shall pass no law" thingy at the start of the First.

Yes, but calling it a States right issue (My original point) at the present moment is a lie, hence which is why the anti-abortion or bust electorate is hesitant about Rudy.

Why, because Roe. v. Wade must be overturned first, which the Pres. could have a lot of influence over in picking of Judges.
