Australia judges say gay slur OK

Australian judges Thursday dismissed a complaint against a radio broadcaster who described a gay US television star as a "pillow biter" and a "pompous little pansy prig."
The judges said the remarks about Carson Kressley, the popular star of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", were protected by freedom of speech laws.
Veteran broadcaster John Laws, known as "Golden Tonsils", had said his on-air comments were tongue-in-cheek and were meant to be funny.
Gay rights activist Gary Burns filed a complaint with a New South Wales tribunal, saying the comments presented homosexual men as dirty and perverted.
The three-member panel said, however, that while the comments did amount to vilification "because they incited severe ridicule of homosexual men", they fell within free-speech exceptions to anti-discrimination laws.
Burns said he was disappointed by the ruling.
"I took this action because I believe it's important to stand up and erase hate in society," he said. "It's about standing up against bullies."
Laws was on air at the time of the judgement and unavailable for comment, but lawyers for Southern Cross Broadcasting said the radio network was pleased with the decision.
"The result is what we had hoped for and what we were confident we would get," said Adam Olding.

uhhh yea, imagine how straight men would feel if they were called "p***** pirates", "masculine", and "hetero".
The horror!
You can't slur someone with something they're proud of.

I wonder if this includes the elimination of the hate that
pillow biters and a
pompous little pansy prigs have for homophobes?

I am beginning to think this Judge is a genius. We need Judges like this in America. Hey, don't some Supreme Court Justices cite foreign laws in their rulings? So why cannot we just save a few steps and nominate foreign judges. It would be better than nominating liberal American cockroaches. (sarcasm)
