He opposed the war on tactical and strategic grounds.
That is his defense?

Apparently, he was needed to prosecute draft dodgers so his life was too precious to risk.

Swift Boats co-founder John ONeill said the only reason Vietnam became a major issue in 2004 was that Kerry kept bringing it up.
I do think Kerry was a special case, ONeill said. Whatever Rudy Giuliani or the rest of these people did or didnt do in terms of the Vietnam War, I dont think thats a legitimate issue in the presidential campaign of 2008.
I agree with O'neill on this. Rudy is way wrong on more than enough issues to use against him. However, if this would sink his nomination, go for it!

What does Rudy know about tactical and strategic military tactics?

Everyone that I know of, got whatever deferment they could to avoid this undeclared war called Viet Nam. I would never hold that against anyone. Yes, I supported winning the war that we were fighting, but in that war (because of the college deferment) it truly was the smartest ones who avoided combat.

I can't see him taking a shot like that--it would cheapen him It's not possible for McCain to cheapen himself any further.

He opposed the war on tactical and strategic grounds. It's going to be great fun watching the Guliani campaign implode. I'm enjoying it already.

A younger Mitt Romney became eligible for the draft in 1970, but his number was not called in the military draft, Romney spokesman Kevin Madden said. During that time, he did spend several years as a missionary for his church in France. That won't be easy to characterize in a positive light. Gore went to Divinity School, failed and went to Vietnam. LOL

Sounds like a case for Dan Rather. It could be hotter than a San Antone parking lot in July. On the other hand, it could be colder than a nor-easter in Amarillo in January.
