Worldwide Caution Public Announcement
U.S. Embassy Georgetown released the following Warden Message on March 19:

This warden message is being released to remind American citizens living in and traveling to Guyana that Cricket World Cup (CWC) matches are scheduled to be played at Providence stadium in Providence on March 28 and 30, and April 1, 3, 7 and 9, 2007. Matches are expected to begin around 9:00 AM, and will continue for most of the day. Guyanese officials plan to implement traffic and crowd control, including restricting areas of vehicular traffic, implementing busing options to/from Providence stadium, and restricting personal items that may enter the stadium grounds. Please visit our website for specific suggestions that may be useful during the CWC period. http://georgetown.usembassy.gov/guyana/acs_welcome.html

The U.S. Embassy in Georgetown can be reached by phoning 225-4900 or via e-mail at ACSGeorge@state.gov. Americans traveling abroad should regularly monitor the Department's Internet web site at http://travel.state.gov where the current Worldwide Caution Public Announcement, Travel Warnings and Public Announcements can be found. Information on security can also be obtained by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll free in the United States, or, for callers outside the United States and Canada, a regular toll line at 1-202-501-4444.
