A submachine gun belonging to a Jefferson County SWAT officer was stolen out of the cab of his personal truck last week while he was at a sports bar, and Lakewood police are still trying to locate the weapon.
The officer was at the bar on Feb. 21 with other members of SWAT when the HK MP5 was stolen, said Lakewood police spokesman Steve Davis.
The sports bar, Jackson s Hole, is across the street from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Colorado State Patrol at 675 Kipling.
The officer parked his Ford pickup in the parking lot about 6 p.m., police said. When he walked outside at 8:20 p.m., he noticed his truck had been broken into, Davis said.

This ticks me off everytime it happens. This nincompoop not only gets to have a full auto rifle, but he gets to go out drinking with it in his ride, and I am stuck on semi-auto. Cops having full auto weapons while civilians can't is so incredibly unconstitutional.
Furthermore, storing a weapon this powerful loose leaf in the back of a car is the height of irresponsibility. At leas secure the thing so they have to steal the entire car and ruin the gun cutting it out of the car.

I hate to think what a criminal could do with that weapon.

I hate to think what a criminal could do with that weapon.Like, break into someone's house while they are asleep, and shoot them in their beds? That's exactly what the Denver SWAT team did to one Mr. Mena a few years ago. Probably with H&K MP5s. One or two jurisdictions over. (It was a wrong-address no-knock.)

It makes me a little nervous that after drinking for over two hours that this guy still would have had access to this weapon when he returned to the car. Maybe the thief did the citizens in the area a favor!

Let me rephrase that.I'd to think what a corrupt, incompetent cop could do with a weapon like that.

The officer parked his Ford pickup in the parking lot about 6 p.m., police said. When he walked outside at 8:20 p.m.2 hours and 20 minutes. I wonder if he had enough alcohol to be over the legal limit when he went back out to drive off in his pickup?

Too funny!
The insert should have an insert pointing out his finger on the trigger!

As bad as it is that he's holding a gun up to his ear, notice the position of his finger. It looks suspiciously close to the trigger to me.

One law for the proles, another law for the cops. I hope they at least make him pay for the gun, and demote him to crossing guard (unarmed).
To: elkfersupper
Who gave that doofus a gun?

Gadzooks, man! Give up the sports bar!
If you are going to get your MP5 stolen, do it with some class...
