I realize Jumblatt is sort of a political weather vane - but currently, he is doing the right thing by speaking out against Syria.

He appears to be more rational than some others who are associating themselves with Hezbollah, like Michel Aoun.

You said it right : CURRENTLY. What about tomorrow?

So please do not give any credit to the man responsible of the 1983 bloodbath of the Shouf and the repeated shelling of the Marines compound in Beirut Airport from the hills of Shuweifat. That is one period of History Mr. Jumblat is still taking pride in until this year in his speeches at Mukhtara Palace, thanking the support of the syrian army in achieving this exploit. Oh, that was the 'glorious' syrian army of Hafez Assad and VP Khaddam, not that of mini-Assad.

Whatever Jumblat may do, even sacrifying himself as a suicide bomber in the Hamidiyeh market in Damascus, is not enough to redeem himself.
