Very good news. The dark-horse Hunter only 13 votes behind the man with all the media recognition. Very, very impressive.

"isn't there a BMW plant there?"

Yes there is. If I remember correctly, it can be seen from I-85.

My guess is that Freepers know exactly who he is...it's all those millions of people watching Oprah religiously that have never heard of him. He's got to get buzz outside of conservative political junkies to be able to help the ticket. He needs to get notice from independents and fear from liberals - for that he needs money...and to get his name regularly mentioned on the nightly broadcasts.

I understand your concern.....mine too...but again, I believe this is a transitional year for Repubs....I not all that happy with what the many of the conservative Repub did with MY party the last few years....doing jack sh** in Congress, committing fraud and crimes and whining about Dems while doing nothing....my principles are intact but yes, I'm also pragmatic......go ask George Allen and Rick Santorum how they feel about this.....

My best guess is that is amazingly good news for Congressman Hunter.

My experience with these county committee straw polls is that they are biased in favor of the candidate who the local party structure thinks is the frontrunner, and certainly not toward the candidate that is actually most popular with the local Republican base.

If that bias holds in this case in Spartanburg, then this is a huge victory for Congressman Hunter.

"No. If FR endorses a candidate they could lose their tax exempt status."

so, are we allowed to 'talk trash' about any candidate like they do about Rudy? Someone warned me not to talk trash about Hunter or something. oh scary. sounds like Kerry and his 'cronies'

"what is that supposed to mean?"

When the tread is black and deep, and the sidewalls are dingy, you know that you're looking at a re-tread.

....that poll was not about the Spartanburn Straw Poll and I'm guessing locals have learned alot more from the GOP then nationwide voters as a whole who are ususally dumb as rocks anyway this early on

that's what coalition politics is all about.

You don't build coalitions by telling socons to foresake just about every political value they hold dear.

"Oh, bullcrap. Rudy was campaigning like a big dog in SC."

Not according to Fox News' Carl Cameron. Rudy made minimal effort, whereas, Hunter's people were camped out there in Spartanburg County for weeks.

So many here seem to think we have to automatically like Hunter due to his "conservative convictions".

Hunter coming in second is better than I thought possible.

McCain and Romeny were the ones who were working it the hardest.

I am stoked!

And where is pissant?
