OMG...praying
Well, the NWS radar at Ft. Rucker is still operating so that wasn't hit.
I hate these kinds of reports. And I hate tornadoes...
I can't help it. :)
I left there the last time in late 69. About four years ago, when my son was in jump school at Benning, we took a day trip to Rucker. Even went out to Shell AHP, where I had worked between tours in Vietnam. Talk about memories.
Rucker could be a mess.
I don't know why they didn't let out early in Enterprise. Maybe the storms came early there. Isn't this letting out early kind of new in the last few years. It is a good idea. I am so upset for those kids and parents. Now there is a warning for Tuscaloosa so I'm going to be worring until the tornado passes.
I live in Dothan, just talked to a friend in Enterprise, tornado hit one block from her. She reports lots of damage to high school and downtown area. Towers down, no power, reporting injuries. We are being told the worst is yet to come, more storms coming from the west.
I saw the damage from the F5 in 1998. Those images never leave you. I think they haven't left alot of people.
I have the Enterprise live stream on now.
we are under a tornado watch til 6pm.....had one pass over us about 1pm....did not touch down as far as I know....I hate spring.....lol
My sister is there. My brother-in-law at Rucker. Their son in Iraq. I can't get through by land or cell.
It was almost heaven to fly low level over that part of Alabama in the spring when the honeysuckle was in bloom. Had a downside though. The sound of the helicopter would herd all those chickens in all those chicken houses into one corner and about 50% would suffocate. Chicken farmers had no liking nor use for helicopters.
Not Shell. Hanchey.
Case of CRS.
I learned right then the power and fury of those damned tornados and keep my ears/eyes peeled when even a WATCH comes up.
Hubby went to helicopter school there in 1980 I believe.....
It's better to just stay put and hunker down..

I hope the Boll Weavil statue is Okay.
. . . and all the folks there.
Oh yeh. The Oak Grove area? My daughter and I are leaving our house that is on a slab for somewhere safer if/when we get a warning. We don't leave on regular tornado days, but with these big ones I will.
Hey there alice.
