It sounds frightening and very serious.
And there's more to come, they say...all through the night.
The magenta triangles are vortex signatures. One just south of Montgomery, AL, and one east of that in a cell headed for Columbus, GA.
In the 70's, we would go out to "The Flats" outside of Elba to watch the helicopters practice landings. Also down at Tact 1.
Conflicting reports... I just read some article posted about 10 minutes ago that said no one was injured at the high school, that everyone was sent home earlier in the day.
Then, another report said that they used the gym (which had its roof collapse) as the shelter area during the storm.
It's a good name. Sounds very presidential to me.
I agree!!
One lawmaker you never have to call, he will do the right thing. I do contact him though....to thank him.
We've got the sirens! I'm waiting for the Tusc storms to leave though.
They just issued another tornado warning for eastern Pike County (Troy/Banks) where my brother and his family live.
When we got the -13's we thought we could go any where. Me and Mike Novosel went to old Carswell AFB on one of my annual instrument checkrides. We were on final approach when the controller asked if we could increase our approach speed, we told him we could kick it up to about 80 all we got back was a snort or it may have been a stifled laugh. We looked behind us and there was a B-52 on a long final with all the black smoke boiling out the back - - we quickly broke off the approach and headed back to Mineral Wells.
I'm listening to a live stream. And, earlier on Fox, I believe it was a student saying there were injuries at the HS. His friend had a bad head injury...I guess news people can't get there.
I was just told. I did not hear them though. It is for the Tuscaloosa storm that is not here yet. Sounds like officials aren't taking any chances. I will hang out here awhile before heading downstairs.
Stay safe!! Hide!
Prayers for the students.
Yes near Troy from locale reports..saying we may be at break for a couple hours before it gets worse
