The last five democrat presidential candidates who had ever been U.S. senators are John Kerry, Al Gore, Walter Mondale, George McGovern, and Hubert Humphrey, and all five of them lost the general elections. If Sen. Clinton, Sen. Obama, or ex-Sen. Edwards wins the nomination, that noninee will probably lose.
I see the internecine blood-letting between Hillary and Barackoramabama as possibly mutually assured destruction which neither has the sense to stop. The problemmatic outcome of that for me is the emergence of an Al Gore candidacy and a vengeful reign by him. Especially for those of us in Tennessee who kept him out of the White House in 2000, "Herr Greenenfuerher" would exact his retribution.
What happened in the past doesn't count. There has never been a ruthless and totally corrupt politician such as Hillary. Now that the Dems have the edge in Ohio, she has the electoral college. If the election looked close, it would not be beyond the realm of possibility that the GOP candidate would have an "accident."
I don't recall if we've communicated before. I read and appreciate your FR bio page. By the way, Bob Dornan endorsed one of my limerick books --- THE OFFICIAL CLINTON BASHING LIMERICK BOOK --- and let me use his name on the back cover.
EXAMPLE
We all know that Bill Clinton is slick
He is more than some Arkansas hick
In the whole universe
There are few more perverse
And they named the wrong guy Tricky Dick
Altho JFK is a counterexample, we need only reprise Lloyd Bentsen (i.e., hillary clinton is no John Kennedy) to dispense with him. But that leaves 14 more. ;)
